It's a regional scottish thing (aka lorne sausage) and not many places have it in England. I never saw it in any shops in London or the southeast in the 30 odd years I lived there (and they were very odd!)

My butcher sells Lorne sausage, although I'm in the midlands and not London.

That is a load of rubbish if they are quality butchers sausages.

I'm on the south coast and my butcher sells Lorne. Your influence is far and wide, Smudge!

Do you buy it in a block or ready sliced?

My local Morrisons does the best square sausage i've ever tasted, its hand-made in-store by butchers (most of whom worked in local butcher shops, til the supermarkets squeezed them out-how ironic?) and is lovely on a Mortons Roll with ketchup/hp. Maybe even a potato scone on board too if your real hungry

A friend of mine who lives North o' the border made me some square egg 'rings' so I could have a Lorne sausage and fried egg butty on square bread.

The square sausage from Morrisons is tremendous. Think they cost around £1.80 for 4 slices?

I normally just get mine at the butchers. Costs £2,50 for 10 slices

Yeah, its roughly 50/60p per slice @ Morrisons butcher counter, well worth it. No need to add oil for cooking, enough is released from the slice. I usually remove the fat with kitchen paper from the pan as the sausage cooks. Man i feel hungry now

Ol' george will do a square slice nice, no swimming around in fat.

Used the GF to cook the sausage today

It was slightly less fatty than shallow frying it

For me it didnt taste as good as shallow frying it so will go back to that method in future

I've never known another English person (apart from the half english/half scottish person that introduced me to it) who knows what lorne sausage is.
Haven't had any for 15 years, but I can still taste it now!

Where in the City (London) can I get some?? Never see it out in the wilds of Essex!
