This one is a bit challenging so could sink without trace.

You can write as many sentences as you like, but they must make sense.
For every song title used you can use another word to link the titles. You can use more than one word to link the titles as long as the total number of 'linking' words doesn't exceed the number of titles.
Linked words to be in italics; artists' names in brackets after the song title.
You do not have to continue the story from the previous post.

Sometimes in winter (Blood Sweat & Tears)
if you go
North to Alaska (Johnny Horton)
it's
As cold as ice (Foreigner).
Even now (Barry Manilow)
with
The winds of March (Journey)
The Cruel Sea (the Dakotas)
is
Frozen (Madonna)

Mama said (Dusty Springfield)
'Wake up, little Susie.' (Everly Brothers)
'Say no more' (Barry Manilow)

I've been
'Dreamin’ - Johnny Burnette
of
wild boys (Duran Duran)
wild places (Barry Manilow)
and a
monster (Kanye West)
wearing
white shoes. (Randy Meisner)

^ Good one TC

Good thread nelliek, I like a thread with a story.

It's a thread I thought about creating something similar myself sometime ago but mine would have required less thinking and a lot less effort I was going to do something like this.....

The first poster to start off the story, eg

Mama said - Dusty Springfield

The next poster.......

'Wake up, little Susie - Everly Brothers

.....and so on

Anyway, here we go:

We Gotta Get Out of This Place - The Animals
Why Don't You Stay? - Glenn Hughes
Because Weekends Were Made For Fun - Countdown
Let's Go To The Movies - Annie
Ok , lets go - Dj Technix

(Okay that was a pathetic attempt)

I quite like Mandy's idea tbh......although when we've tried it before some numpster usually comes along and purps all over it with something non-sensical

Thanks Mandy & Tel for your input.
I have to say that my idea is more difficult than Mandy's because you have to first find the main title to build the story around. With Mandy's idea you're finding just one title to continue the story.
Shall we try Mandy's idea again? Mandy can start a new thread - clearly labelled 'no purps allowed'.

Or possibly a hybrid of the two where someone could post more than one title (using minimal linking words) provided it made sense. e.g.
person one: Sometimes in winter (Blood Sweat & Tears)
person two:if you go
North to Alaska (Johnny Horton)
it's
As cold as ice (Foreigner).

I have to say that I think it's very difficult to make a narrative from song titles without using some linking words.

I'm not overkeen on starting new threads really. A much better idea is..... how about you, starting a new thread? (at the risk of Scraggy or geniejean going mad at yet another new thread) or maybe TC .................................anyone but me, basically.
Or maybe just continue in here and you could change the rules.

Just one title will do for my lack of brain cells to work on.

^ ^ ^ Don't worry Sex - we're talking amongst ourselves at the moment.

Thanks for your feedback, Mandy.

What do you think, Tel? (You've more experience on the board than me.) Just say 'it was a nice idea - but forget it'? (Especially as you say similar things have been started before but crashed.) And then let this thread slowly sink into
oblivion?

(about 10 minutes later)
After having read through what I've just written, and thought a little more about things, I think the 'sink into oblivion' option is perhaps the best one as I don't suppose DS would let us have a private 'Tel, Mandy & Nel' story-writing thread.

*throws toys out pram*

I will keep this thread alive even if it means playing with meself. (I should rephrase that)

Rules:

Songs that tells a story. (that makes sense) One title only, eg

First poster...

We Gotta Get Out of This Place - The Animals

Next poster....

Why Don't You Stay? - Glenn Hughes

Next....

Because Weekends Were Made For Fun - Countdown

etc

I'll start....

In The Middle Of The Night
- Billy Joel

6) To Be Where There's Life - Oasis

(Forgot to add to the rules, it's a 1-10 line story (meaning the 10th poster starts a new story)
Otherwise we'd be stuck forever more on the life of this ***** man)
