Hope Murphy

That was actually a decent performance in terms of not only the vocal power but also the soulfulness which I’ve been wanting to see for a while now. I like how your mentor took a risk and gave you a more modern classical song which I actually wasn’t expecting and I think this is by far your best performance so far Hope. I also loved the amount of emotion that was massively put into the performance and all I can really say is bravo for that performance it was actually pretty decent

Hope:- This Hope was a surprise for me, this is actually one of my favourite songs, it is incredibly emotional and has a slight Irish folk element to it. I would have liked to have seen a different arrangement of the song, I can see it being reminiscent of your previous audition song, if stripped back more with a less deep voice. Im 50/50 on the performance I can see it working but maybe not in its current arrangement. Good Effort though

Adam Martin: I decided to pick this male take on Regina Spektor's classic jazz song because I just found it utterly compelling, it wasn't quite as husky as your first audition but it still captured that tenderness in your voice that makes you so appealing as an artist, I loved your interpretation of the song, it was a really quirky take on a great song and you showed exactly why you deserve to be in the competition, because you are an amazing artist with a great voice, this was incredible, great job!

Adam Martin

Unfortunately Adam I think this was a really weak performance by you. I mean I really do like your voice but with this performance there was no edge in your vocals which you have and after a while it did start to drag on quite a bit and I think it just didn’t work for you Adam. I do want you to bounce back because last week I quite enjoyed your song but this week I just really wasn’t a fan of it at all Adam and I believe you can do better.

Adam:- Adam this is actually the type of performance I have been waiting for you. Kevin you are listening to my critique of his previous performances which I appreciate. These performances which rely of Adam's intense vocal style is what really showcase the unique qualities I saw in him during the auditions. It was his best performance so far, as he was doing songs which I could see on his album. Well done, a lovely performance.

Mikael Saari

Mikael taking on some country everybody! Country was an interesting genre for you Mikael so I decided to have a look around and there were actually a lot of country artists who said they were country but weren’t pure country. Kev last week wanted some rasp in your vocals and I think we definitely managed to inject that into this performance but I also think again you managed to emotionally connect to the song, as you usually do and actually make me feel something when you perform! Mikael country was the challenge of a life time for you and we passed with flying colours baby!

Mikael Saari: Right, just going to clear this up, I think that link was inaccurate as according to his Last FM page, Marcus Foster categorizes himself as Folk/Blues/Alternative so he himself doesn't categorize himself as country. I'd be inclined to believe his Last FM page over an advertisement made by someone else for a gig he is performing at, for that reason I believe that this song is a rulebreaker. Anyway, the song itself was okay for Mikael, nothing spectacular, it didn't really go anywhere and I found it a little bit dull.

Mikael:- What happened Mikael. Did the pressure get to much, because something happened in that performance, you crumbled on stage in front of me. That song is not for you, it was missing your usual high standards and authenticity. I just checked and I see that Mikael was meant to be country. This im afraid is not a country song however if i can see the source i may change my mind. But in terms of the song, it just didn't work im afraid.

Well done tonight Mikael. Tonight Kevin has called the song choice a rulebreaker and after reviewing the source and listening tot eh song again Barry has decided that he will also call this a break of the rules so that means Mikael will have the rulebreaker tag applied. But moving on we have the next two performances

Mark Lowndes – Kanye West “Jesus” – Josh Osho Cover

Sandra Van Niewuland
: Hannah Mulholland cover of Tighten Up (The Black Keys - Indie)

Mark Lowndes: I thought this was quite good Mark, it wasn't as good as your first week performance but was miles above your performance last week. I liked that you changed it up by going for a Kanye track and arranging it differently but the backing sounds were distracting and really took away from the performance, I also found that it didn't really go anywhere. Overall, it wasn't bad but it wasn't a stand-out performance either, it was okay Mark.

Sandra Van Nieuwland: This was amazing Sandra, you absolutely owned the stage with your sultry, sexy vocals. They were as smooth as silk and had the rich, bluesy quality that we associate with performances you make. I decided to switch it up by giving you an indie rock song rather than taking the easy option of a jazz song to show your versatility, not only can you sing the phonebook but you can do an amazing jazz rendition of an indie track, your voice soared above the song and absolutely blew the roof off the performance, I just adored it.

Mark Lowndes

There was something really intriguing about this performance for me and I don’t exactly know what it was about it? I mean usually these types of performances bore me to sleep, which it probably did for some people, but there was something weirdly intriguing about it for me. I think the vocals improved quite a bit since your last performance and we saw a lot more soul that we did before which is a good thing. I was weirdly captivated and I think that so far it was your best performance and Bazz did really well tonight with you.

Sandra Van Niewuland

Now you know me Sandra I usually give to masses and masses of praise and this week is only slightly different. I still think it was a good performance and really allowed your slightly jazzy side to come out but I do think that with this performance there was one thing missing. The one thing I love which I think was missing was that amazing quirkiness you have. All your other performances just really amazed me with the quirkiness in them and whilst this was still a good performance I would really like the quirkiness back next week as that is something that I really do love about you and your song choices.

Mark:- I loved that performance it was incredibly understated, and I think you did a very good job with it. I wanted to really strip the entire performance back and get it back to just you and the music. I stated that I wanted you to be a neo-soul artist from the beginning in the pitches and tonight I really feel I have found your niche. I loved the performance it was intense and authentic and you brought your own style to the song. It to me was your best performance, as you just brought that soul and passion to the performance.

Sandra :- I think this was what you needed Sandra, this type of performance, and it showed a different dimension to you as an artist. It was very edgy and I think that it allowed you to show that you are here to really compete for the title. I think that you were actually to relax more with that performance due to its intimacy, it was like I was at a small gig of yours tonight. I still think we are yet to see that wow moment that we had in your battle round, but you’re getting there.

Karoline: Hmm, this was an interesting performance, I thought the song itself was quite good and I liked the feel of the song, that said, the slightly husky vocals of the singer weren't really that suited to you Karoline as your vocals don't have that quality. I also thought that it kinda felt a little like you were needing to shout some of the lyrics of the song, I wasn't disappointed but at the same time it wasn't as good as it could have been. Not a bad performance overall.

Emma's Imagination: Love a bit of Nina Nesbitt, love how she manages to make even the worst of songs sound amazing. Anyway, irrelevant comment of the day aside, this was genius for you Emma. Honestly, your mentor seems to have the magic touch with you to be honest because this just suited you down to the ground, it was a great way to change a dance song into something much sweeter and much more appealing and I loved your vocals, easily my favourite performance by someone who is not in my category tonight, well done Emma, you have soared tonight.

Senja: And there I was thinking that I was confident that Emma had torn it apart tonight, that was worth the wait Senja. I was ready to be hitting for the pause button by the second line to be honest because gospel music just strikes me as all sounding the same but this was incredible, literally this was brilliant and such a strong choice, I really loved it and I'm so impressed, that was the best performance of the night (after my four of course ) and it was just brilliant, well done Senja, aah, this was great.

Karoline

I still love you but again this wasn’t the best of performances from you. I mean you have this really sweet and rich tone whilst this performance sounded really too mature and gritty for you which again is quite disappointing. One thing I do like a lot about this performance is how you got a more urban side coming through this performance than your other performances but again you still haven’t given us an amazing performance that makes me think of you as a contender. You need to do that soon as right now there are quite a few people who’re doing better than you.

Emma’s Imagination

Emma this was a really interesting theme for you Emma as the genre’s that we had weren’t really that well suited to you but then boom! I found this fantastic Nina Nesbitt cover of the amazing Example song! This was really you taking on a song and making it your own like no one else can! It was quirky, strong vocally and again allowed you to keep that lovely guitar. It was, as usual, an absolutely sensational performance Emma and it just reminded me of why I chose to steal you! I knew you would be amazing and you’ve definitely been that! Brilliant Emma, absolutely brilliant!

Sejna

Hmmm stylistically this was really well suited to you Sejna and is quite a good performance if I based it on the style. Now the vocals were decent but at certain times they felt really nasally which is what you really don’t have in your vocals. I think that overall this was quite a strong performance and compared to last week’s was quite an improvement but I think its your strongest so far.

Karoline:- That is you back to where you belong Karoline, Jack wanted you back to your edgy current performance like at the beginning and tonight you did that soo well. I listened to you battle song by Delilah and I believe that her and Kat have that real raw and authentic urban edge which I really wanted to bring back to your performance. You are a young cool performer and this performance allowed you to showcase those distinct vocals. You are back and ready to compete very well, watch out, your back in the race. Urban Karoline shut it down.

Emma's Imagination:- Emma that was brilliant, Jack know's exactly who you are, and what you are meant to be performing. It is just wonderful to see you on the stage feeling so comfortable. The first three shows you have been in your element on stage, and that is great to see. What I want to see now is a change in pace, a little more performance in the song, showing a little personality. By doing that we can see all your sides, meaning you won;t become boring. Overall great job.

Senja:- *STANDING OVATION* I am the proudest mentor right now, when i found this little gem of a song I knew this was made for you. Senja we had this connection right from the auditions, I knew what I wanted to do with you, and I have built your performances and song choices up week on week, and trying to showcase what a truly fantastic artist you are. We now know that you can do everything, I believe you could go so far on this show, I have never had a musical connection with an artist like I have had with you. I just really enjoy mentoring you, it is a pleasure

He was obviously meant to say 13-1, I guess he was very tired towards the end of the show.
