Hey

We just had a letter through the door from BT Openreach informing us they need to to maintenance work.

The letter looks dodgy, anyone else had this before?

Give BT a phone, they should be able to tell you if there's maintenance work due to get done.

The number at the bottom of the letter says its an answerphone and you need to leave your name, number and ref number and they will contact us. We are Virgin Media customers but there is an inactive BT line to our house.

Maybe there's a quicker way to contact them on their website? Some have live chat.

Can you scan the letter or post the telephone number it is asking you to call?

There is a BT rep on here who could also check to see it if it genuine or not.

I think that they write to every household as they don't have direct access to records on who is using services through local wiring. Its probably something like replacing the street cabinets to upgrade the equipment and so they are legally obliged to tell you in case your services are interrupted. If you use VM who cares anyway? They have no need to enter your home either way!
