Do Easter Eggs get discounted after Easter?
I haven't bought any this year assuing after Easter weekend they're be loads left over and probably chaper. But I noticed today my local supermarket actually has less on display, as if they are scaling down the stocks already.
Do you generally get discounted eggs after Easter? Surely there must be mountains of left overs? |

I'm hoping so, I was going to wait so I could get something nice for my sister. Anyone know?

Generally speaking yes.
But be aware that Holy Saturday is a big egg buying day. |

I've not seen the same amount of eggs reduced lately like I used to see as a kid, as back them we always waited till after Easter to get our eggs. You still get some, but don't get the choice of years gone by.
I did hear recently that a majority of the eggs are returned and recycled instead of being sold off cheap. |

I don't think shops stock the amount they used to, i never see much on the shelves after Easter Sunday.
Eggs used to be so much more expensive than they are now anyway. Small eggs are £1 in Asda, where as a normal bar of chocolate is 70p! |

Why bother getting discounted eggs after Easter Sunday?
They'll just be chocolate then, and I'm sure a bar or box of choccies works out cheaper even than a discounted egg? |

No, no, no, we canny buyers are waiting until the price falls below that price. You can often find an egg with say, 3 Crunchies for less than the price of 3 Crunchies.

Does anyone know if remaindered stock is actually returned and recycled - I mean does the actual chocolate get melted down and re-used?

It's this time of year when I really miss Woolworths being on the highstreet. I used to love going in and buying Easter eggs from there, once the price had been reduced.

Just got a MASSIVE 300g egg from Marks and Spencers for £2.50. It was half price. The offers have begun people. Check your local shops and hunt around. Your very own Easter egg hunt.

Practically none where I live (Berkshire)- tried Waitrose and Tesco last night - nothing. Adsa and Martin McColl (newsagents) today - nothing. Seems that if you want to get Easter Eggs, even at full price, you have to buy them 2 weeks after New Year.
Consoled myself by buying large bars of Dairy Milk instead.
