I am hoping for this not to be true, but, I fear CBS will go and axe it.

I would be really upset if this happened, would anyone else?

With The Mentalist and The Good Wife renewed it does not look good, as online comment seemed to be 1 of those 3 will be axed.

May get a short season as this years was also short as already finished in US.

There may be some hope with Criminal Minds not being renewed. However that has a much larger audience than CSI:NY and the delay is due to contract negotiations with the two leads Joe Mantegna and Thomas Gibson. AJ Cook is also out of contract but she has been dropped and come back before so could be considered more replaceable (the kid she has in the show gives an excuse), so would just need a new actress. Is also further complicated because its produced by ABC studios and only bought in and screened by CBS. Therefore depends upon the price they would have to pay as ABC make the syndication money. CSI is in house to CBS.

Overall think its now unlikely.

I don't know if everyone has seen the latest season from the States but it felt like a final season to me. Not because there was a definitive end but because they shoehorned in a lot of personal stories, as if it was a thankyou to the cast to give them something interesting to do before they bow out. I thought it made it the weakest season yet.

It hasn't screened in the UK yet, any reasons why it was the weakest season yet according to you? (Use spoilers in case others don't want to know!)

I've downloaded episodes but I got as far as 4 and just found I couldn't be bothered.

I think the problem is the characters. Mac is OK, but can get a bit dull and sanctimonious at times.

Jo, I liked when she first arrived to replace Stella (who I was never too keen on), but she is now quite grating.

I have always despised Lynsey, god knows why they wrote out Aidan Burn (not sure if Vanessa Ferlito quit or was axed?). The problem now is that Danny, who was a great character in the early seasons, is also fairly dull now as they just make a truly awful couple.

Hawkes has always been a smug, condescending little shit.

Don Flack is of course awesome - an ideal, yet unlikely scenario would see his character somehow transplanted into another CBS based NY cop show, although I can't really see Flack fitting into Blue Bloods or Person of Interest.

Maybe a completely new series?

As I said, there's lots of personal stories, to the point that it became a big negative for me. And the personal stories don't relate to the rest of the episode, so you'll have a regular case but at the same time, you'll have Flack on his day off visiting his sister for example.

Everyone was convinced it was for the axe last season, even the actors. But no, Miami went instead.

So who knows. Yes I have been watching the new season on RTE (Irish channel), and was surprised at the personal bits thrown into the stories.

The one where no one spoke for about 15 minutes was interesting.

I hate the personal stories, I am not interested, the show is meant to be about what they do, not who they are IMO.
I gave up reading Patricia Cornwell when every book was about the main character, her annoying niece or partner being involved in the actual 'crime'. Dullsville

NY characters I love are Mac and Flack, maybe a series of their own?
