Me and my OH think it's quite comical how Nickhil ( mixed-race asian) and Gennie ( dark hair) have the blondest baby ever to be seen in a soap.
If she hadn't been born on the B&B's floor,I swear they would be demanding an enquiry in to how they managed to bring the wrong baby home from hospital.

Have you ever thought that family members in soaps just look totally wrong together?
Are there any that you think are spot on?
I reckon Belle and Samson in Emmerdale are the spit of eachother..great family casting.
What do you think?

I think EastEnders' Cora, Tanya and Abi are fantastic as three generations from the same family. There is a striking resemblance between the three in my opinion.

I don't think the casting of Rob Donavon was particularly accurate, to me rob sounds nothing like her and doesn't bear too much resemblance to Carla, especially when he first arrived and she had jet black hair. Mind you, I've always thought that aesthetically Carla could have beloved to the Connor family, particularly Liam and Michelle .

If I remember rightly I don't think he is?

He was the subject of a half-baked baby swap plot that just seemed to peter out unresolved.

Maybe a bit off-topic but the whole of the misbegotten Morton family in Corrie - awful.

I have to agree with Rob Donovan. I was so excited for him to introduced too, but he is nothing like what i'd imagine Carla's brother to be.

Charity/Debbie ED were a great mother/daughter casting especially when Debbie was blonde.

Ironically, I've always though Gennie and Brenda look like perfect casting for mother and daughter, despite the fact there's no biological link.

Cain and Charity can easily pass for (half) brother and sister as they both have a 'brooding intensity' about them.

And Thomas makes a convincing Carl King junior.

We have commented on Nikhill's baby at home, they have picked entirely the wrong baby. Whilst the baby would probably have a bit of "tan" to it, it would have very dark hair, and very dark eyes. I know of a family of "similar" racial history. Two sons, early thirties, have very dark hair, and very dark eyes. Their dad is the same proportion of Asian blood and white person, so in essenance the same as Molly. He has dark hair, dark eyes and tanned skin.

Cain and Charity are not brother and sister, they are cousins. Do you mean Cain and Chas?

Thomas is a junior Carl King, what a shame we never got to see them acting together, that would have been great.

Robbie does not fit at all. His dad must have been some kind of dwarf.

Any time a blonde actress with dark roots has a bright blonde child, I cringe a little.

Why? Most babies are born blonde. My mother's hair was dark as night and I'm a blonde.

Whereas Jai and Rachel's baby has the right colouring as he is quite dark like Jai.

DNA and skin tone is not like mixing paint so you will not always get the 'colour' expected but that doesn't mean that soaps can't at least attempt to make people look like they're related by casting similar looking people. Someone I think may have mentioned this but Simon Barlow looks nothing like Peter or his late mum.

And Gennie could have been blonde as a kid, like me! I was light blonde until I was about 13 then went progressively darker, and darker and darker!

Not odd to me at all that Gennie's baby could actually take after her more than the daddy.

It would have been dafter to me if Rachel and Jai's baby had been blonde considering they're both quite dark!

BIB: Spot on. It's been said time and time again on this forum!

BUT like you say, if the PTB try to make the casting what people expect then it would stop a lot of questions by some sections of the audience.

It is great though when the casting works e.g. Cora, Tanya and Abi (as has already been mentioned). But I also know through personal experience that you can have two siblings but none of you look particularly alike - and we were all full sister/brothers! However I also agree with the poster who said that the Branning Brothers were pushing it a bit

It does happen in reality that siblings don't look similar. I don't look much like my sisters, but we all look like our parents (thankfully for my Mum, otherwise there might have been awkward questions!).

It's just that on t.v we have less opportunity to notice the subtle similarities, so it's nice if they have people who clearly look like they could be related - e.g similar colouring or build. I mean, I don't look at Declan and Megan in Emmerdale. and think - yes, they could pass as brother and sister (even if they had the same accent it would help - I know they were raised separately, but still...).
