If it wasn't for the flashbacks to just after the blackout, I'd have given up already I think.

Edit - although, annoying Charlie might change that.

My god, what a pile of poo. This format has been done to death and the actors are awful.
Oh dear this is awful

Having been watching at US pace, it's amusing seeing the same sort of comments appear in this UK pace thread that were made in the US pace thread

The characters are one of the biggest problems with this show (in addition to the poor story and plotholes): They're all... awful. Especially Charlie.

Charlie is very whiny

The only thing holding my interest at the mo is how Monroe became the big cheese

So basically you're saying don't bother?

Normally I hate when people watching at the US Pace come into a UK pace thread and give their opinion on anything upcoming - even if it is just to say it is good or bad without detail. I think it is rudeness itself and defeats the point of having separate threads.

However - in this case I'll forgive you as I've already given up on this pile of sh!te

The characters are almost entirely a bunch of implausible tosspots. Trying to pretend that Charlie somehow lived through the fall of civilisation and ended up as she has is, frankly, taking the piss.

The only semi-decent character so far is the bad-ass black militia guy, who's all (pretendo) nice and friendly one minute and then evil prick the next.

Agreed, Great actor that guy if he is who I think (was also in Breaking Bad right?)

I'm actually still watching at US pace

It's this year's "hate watch" for me. Interesting premise but poor execution, where I initially continue watching in the vain hope it will improve, but it then becomes continued viewing *because* it's awful (the whole "watching a car crash" thing).

Previous "hate watches" have been The Event, FlashForward, and Terrible Nova. I think that this is worse than all three.

Story, acting, characters, execution...

Find myself agreeing with this, why after only 15 years has the world recessed in to mock wild west, American country, roman, and nepolionic type settings??

Why do the army camps have antique furniture hanging about?

To me this vision of the future is more a copy of the past, I believe the world would fall apart but not fall back to various times in history with people acting behaving like the 20th century never happened.

Yup, Giancarlo Esposito.

He played Gus Fring in Breaking Bad. He was also in the first season of Once Upon a Time, plus was in The Usual Suspects.

One of the main reasons I started watching because seeing as this guy played Gus Fring in Breaking Bad I wrongly thought that this would also be quality!! Giancarlo Esposito is the only good thing in this!

Also given the fact this main girl has grown up in this world, with every one taking roles like a pastiche of human society except for the last 100years how has she nailed this whiny emotional Dawson creek esc type crap?

I think the Militia thing was planned before the power went out. It didn't just happen.

So we all loved it then!! I honestly couldn't get past the first 20 minutes, prob because it had me reaching for the same levels of alcohol as i did with flash forward and tera nova. I watch too much tv anyway!

There were whiny teenagers/twenty somethings before electricity, you know.

Still liking this. Enough senseless violence and an untold reason behind this.

I think it is something where you just have to accept what the story tells you and where it takes you. It is better than looking for faults,(ironically) like a whiny teenager.

Strangely I didn't mind The Event though it got tedious. Didn't watch FF and TN made me want to rid the world of electricity so I never had to sit through such a pile of crud ever again.......

My Guilty Pleasure or 'hate watch' is The Following - it makes Revolution look like Shakespeare but it is riviting

That would make sense, I did wonder about the little collar emblems they had in one scene, thinking how'd they make them so nice and neat.

But..... It may have been planned but you have an entire country armed to the teeth, how do you impose rule over that other than that of the rule of Law we already have and comply with, you'd have millions of people fearfull and not wiling to be dictated to by some nobody esp if that guy group are no more than crooks. If a crack gang tried taking over more ordinary scared people would pick them off eventually.

Banning guns seems a implausible thing they could do, I mean this militia ain't up to much cop, didn't one character kill about 10 on his own

I'm not so sure they were that whiny before electric, Seen yes but heard? No

I mean she seems like the kind of kid who grew up in a contemporary society but they have made great effort to portray society as anything but contemporary more historical .

We may get told more in the flashbacks but Miles and Monroe did go into an army base.

It may be we had trained soldiers taking over after the blackout.

At least America doesn't have to have Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik singing in the Revolution universe, since they wouldn't be able to use autotune.

Maybe, guess we will find out,

Maybe I'm being a bit to romantic in my view of the world, I just couldn't see that kind of thing be accepted - so many people who would argue, fight back. In Britan we'd be disadvantage becuase guns arn't everywhere.

It's that reason I'm finding hard to accept in 15 years the usa was divided and conquered by groups of militia.

Mind you these things are all open to interpretation, guess I'm not on board with this one.

Without power and transport you are pretty much stuck with where you are.

You would have thought in the past that people would have argued and fought back with the feudal system but they didn't to any greater extent. Most people cannot murder with impunity.

It was a shock seeing Rachel still alive.

This is just awful derivative garbage!

You know it's crap when you want all the main characters to just die (please just die and stop whining!), and you think the baddies are just too soft.

This makes Terra Nova look almost decent.

I'd downloaded the first three episodes, after halfway through the second we stopped watching and deleted them all.

I had a feeling when Sky was marketing this so much on their channels since the start of the year that they had bought a stinker and perhaps they knew it.

Well that would appear to apply to the malitia also.
Murder is strong but defending yourself? everyone caught up in this has the fortune of life in the modern era so how people in the past behaved isn't always a good comparison.

I'm watching Sparticus at the moment and there you have people fighting against the system. Also the most recent public fight backs I can think of is the Poll Tax, and London Riots. In those riots I recall an old women on the streets fending off looters, with that spirit escalated to an entire country the size of America I think 15 years for it to settle down to a kind of order is laughable (look at Iraq ect)

Just can't see modern people rolling over in countries such as ours and America in such a short time.

My problem is, I think, that its only 15 Years since if they set it 30 -40 years later it may have more credibility

I think you're right. The ads consisted mostly of footage of the black out happening, which to me was the best part. Then just quick shots of the new life with nice shots of abandoned streets.

I think I have decided not to follow this, it won't get far. I suspect next year sky will bury this in the schedule or shove it on living.
