Dog losing eye on thursday

Our little black lab Millie is getting took into the PDSA thursday for an op (she's totally blind now poor thing) Anyway, She is going to have her right eye removed as she has been having fits and they think this will help ease the pressure on her brain. What will happen afterwards? (I am not sure if anybody has had that type of experience) Will they just leave a gaping hole there or will they patch or something so that she doesn't look strange?

Poor lass.I have no knowledge of this kind of surgery but I'd imagine that they would stitch her top eyelid to her bottom one. They wouldn't leave her with a hole as infections could get in. She will just look as though she has shut one eye. Best wishes to you both

My dog hollie had her eye removed in Jan this yr. They stitch the lids together, stitches come out after 6-8 wks. The day she came home she was whiney of anesthetic, a bit less so the day after, then by the third day she was fine, bouncing around like her old self. I am sure your dog will be fine...

She's had it done today. She still tired poor little thing (anasthetic) and she had to have the cone put over her head (which she don't like) lol and painkillers have to go in her food 1 and a half a day I think she got 9 of them they also microchipped her for 15 quid

I have seen a cat with no eye and it doesn't look very nice. They have fake eyes.
