Its illegal to unblock a phone, unless you are the network that placed the original bar, in which case they remove it from the blacklist database.

In other words, call up your network customer services, and tell them you've found it!

The imei number of the phone. This can be found by pressing *#06# on the phone. You must be the original owner of the phone.....

If you bought the phone, it'll be on the side of the retail box/packaging that the phone was in.

Otherwise, you can't find it out.

Blocked or not wont affect the ability to retrieve the IMEI number.

With sim removed from blocked handset, press *#06#. Number that comes up is IMEI.

I'm suprised nobody's mentioned that just about anyone could phone up a network provider and say "hi, I found my phone, can you unblock it again?"

Expect to have to prove you are the legit owner of the phone.

At the risk of stating the obvious. When you phone any operator you have to go through security to prove who you are. Even if you only want to change something minor on the account.

Yeah, but I can see the security being even higher if you want to unblock the phone, though.

I had the same thing happen to me over the New Year.

When I called O2 to have my phone unblocked I was asked a few questions about my account and other security stuff but I wasn't asked for the IMEI number. In any case it can be found under the battery. The whole thing took just a couple of minutes for my phone to be back online.
