That's good, but finding new episodes is huge news for that very reason -- there'll be less missing episodes in total and we will be able to see adventures which have not been seen for over 40 years. counting the animated releases, there are 99 missing episodes to be found.

Which would be every fan's dream come true, but a complete nightmare for production and scheduling at the beeb. No one knows when series 8 will air yet for a start, but neither do we know what November holds either. I hope it does include some old eps etc.

That's why it's a dream! I'd have hoped the 50th would have justified something similar to Children of Earth. And surely with selling abroad, DVD's and other merchandising it would have paid for itself.

If that's the case, my top choices would be Enemy Of The World or Power of the Daleks.

Even Marco Polo.

Unless they've found The Tenth Planet, Episode 4...

I do. I'd love to see a movie AND I'd love to see a reboot movie.

And I'd love to see USA do Doctor Who...

I'm happy with it all, really

Rather have Power than Tenth Planet 4, simply because we have most of the important parts of Tenth Planet and we lack so many Troughton stories. The rumours on Gallifrey Base suggest it's classic series news and it's very big. Frankly, that could mean anything (or nothing) and quite possibly just rumours breeding rumours.

Bring back McGann! Bring back McGann! Bring back McGann! Bring back McGann! Bring back McGann!

And McCoy and THE Colin Baker.

(I'd believe nowt on the subject of missing episodes until it's officially announced, by the way. Especially from DWOnline; we've been here before.)

I can't tell if this is a joke or not?

Link?

It is meant to be a joke (I don't think it is funny at all and I would wish people stop trying to be funny by doing silly posts because they are not funny)

It's more unlikely Power could be found than most of the others; it was only shown in 4 countries, UK, Australia, New Zealand & Singapore. Marco Polo was shown in 23 countries, for example, so there were far fewer prints of Power.

But weren't some of these prints the same ones, i.e. it was shown in one country and then the print was passed on to another? As for bennythedip, if what he wrote was indeed a "joke" as I suspect it was, I hope he gets banned from this forum for life for raising false hopes, albeit briefly.

From what I've read elsewhere, it could be the announcement is about a 'regeneration' DVD box set that's out later this year.

Sadly it may mean that there will no recovered episodes to be announced this year. But I have been wrong before.

Yes, but it would still be amazing if Power was found. We shall see in any case.

I doubt 'even bigger news' is that, unless the missing episodes are on it.

Could be news of a new showrunner?

Actually, would news of the series' cancellation be that unlikely?

It's extremely popular, of course it is. But the Mill shutting down is surely a shot in the foot for it, unless they can find another VFX company pronto.

Plus, always best to leave it on high... it must be difficult coming up with original enough plots.

Don't worry, I'll light the stake myself and leap onto it

I thought it shut down because of less episodes of various things being commissioned this year, not the other way round. OK it might be that, but I don't think they'd announce it in that way and have everyone assuming it was something good?

Power hasnt been found. Paul Vanezis of the missing episodes team said that over at the missing episodes forum:

Quote: Power has not been returned to the BBC, which would make planning a release around it a bit difficult.

The bbc is known for overhyping in most cases imop and in this case it will prob be no difference. Repeats of classic episodes

Surely they're not really going to release some massive news on April fools day are they? How will we know if it's true?

Seems to be just an ebook:

[it hasn't gone out on DWN yet as I thought it could wait until after Australia has had a chance to see the episode!]

From posts above it sounds like this isn't what people are eagerly anticipating, though.”

If it's non-new series related, perhaps its something to do with the one-off programme currently being filmed, about the shows origins?

Just because it hasn't been returned to the BBC doesn't mean it hasn't been found.

Both Power and Evil found in their entireity....would be the greatest thing to happen in...ever!

One episode of Evil of the Daleks exists but there are 6 more lost! Of course, all 6 episodes of Power of the Daleks need to be found, also.....
