So, anyone want to guess why the ages 16 and 23 are missing?

The most obvious to consider are...

An alphanumeric emphasis on P=16 and W=23

Was she preciously whisked away for those years previous to BoSJ ? The leaf ...
Spoiler

An excellent idea from someone else, does she have an inability to write/type 23 and 16 ? Remember the password 124..12...123 moment.

But here's something cryptic and a little bit clever...

The first book of all Shakespeare's plays is called Shakespeare's 'First Folio' and was published in 1623. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Folio

Guess what folio just happens to mean in Latin....leaf. What was that she said at the end..."That wasn't a leaf. That was page one."

Now I have nothing else linking Clara to Shakespeare other than her pseudonym Miss Montague.
I have nothing linking Shakespeare to anybody in the whole of Series 5-7. You'd have to go back to Silence in the Library having a similar storyline to The Tempest for that.

First Folio -> First Leaf -> First Page -> Page One

I guess it makes sense?

But what would Shakespeare have to do with anything?

Haven't a clue. We'll just have to see if there's any more references in episodes to come.

I thought this thread was referencing the novel seen in the episode, written by Amelia Williams. I got very confoosed for a moment there.

The Amelia Williams reference was easy to spot I find, also, that wasn't Oswin's book, it belonged to the girl she was babysitting for, there's also a thread on tha book with "Summer Falls" btw

Could also be something to do with the gamma forest what is on page one in Amelia's book?

Also on the cover is a girl with a torch, a magic torch?, a dog and two boys.

I think it was a leaf from one of the trees we saw in the prequel. Which might mean that Clara remembers meeting the Doctor before, when she .was a child. The first of her 101 places is the place where she met the Doctor.....

On the cover of Amelia's book, the girl's torch is shining towards a tree.

I think you've got it. It ties in with The Snowmen gravestone too.
