How do you record onto DVDs with Panasonic DMR-EX768
Trying to record a tv series from the hard drive to a DVD using a DVD -R. I'm finding the Panasonic Operating instructions confusing to follow. Is there an idiot guide that I can use? as I don't think I am copying it in the right way as it is taking such a long time to copy over. On the DVD's screen it says COPY, should the copy process take the length of the program it is copying or can't you record it quickly. Thanks.

Effectively only DVD+R and DVD+RW discs can be transferred to using High speed which also works in the background leaving you free to do other tasks like browsing the guide. The unit can also commence timed recordings while this goes on if you select record only. If you ask it to finalise (or create top menu) then it will not commence a timed recording. In most cases you will not have to finalise a DVD+R or DVD+RW disk to read it on another player or computer anyway. It will, of course not have the top menu though. If you want to use any other kind of disk , DVD-R, DVD-RW or DVD-RAM or you want to change the recorded mode (from SP to LP to fit more on the DVD for instance) then you have to use the standard mode. This works in real time with the output appearing on the HDMi and scart sockets so you cannot do anything else at the same time. Best to use this method overnight or when you are out and do not expect the machine to record. It is possible to use high speed with DVD-R or DVD-RW disks but it depends on therecording mode. At the moment I cannot rememer if it is VR or VIdeo mode that is excluded. It is easy to see which will. In Advanced Copy when you go to select the recordings to copy in High Speed mode, those you can are marked with a disk symbol, those you cannot are marked with an exclamation mark (!). I have never worked out how to ensure which mode is used, I now believe it has to do with the broadcaster. I like to record on the HDD, then I can edit the programme removing the ads, record them to DVD and rip them to MPEG4 to watch on my iPad while I am away. |
