My daughter cracked the screen on here iPod touch 4th Gen, I've been looking at Youtube clips on how to replace but it looks like a major job, the screens and digitizers can be bought on eBay for 15, apple charge 80 to replace.

Have you ever done this yourself? Is it as hard to do as its made out? I don't fancy paying apple 80.

The screen in only cracked down around the power button so not badly cracked and works fine so its obviously just the glass that's cracked, so I am thinking it might be ok just left as it is.

i have it is very tricky frustrating and damn annoying, you got to have a lot of patience also. Is there not a local computer shop that would repair it. There are people on ebay and elsewere that would repair it also

Don't some of those mobile phone accessory/unlocking stalls you see dotted around many high streets, do repairs such replacing cracked screens? I've not had any personal experience of these though, so cannot say how reliable they would be....

Stall at Brent cross charges 45, but it takes a few days, unlike iPhone screen replacement, which is same price but while you wait.

Alternatively, just protect the screen with fresh screen film.
