Cat won't eat her new food?

Spoilt little mare that she is.

She finished her Science Plan and I haven't been to pet shop to buy more so we bought some Iams. It's day 2 and she's not been near it.

Will she eat when she gets hungry or shall I go and get her usual food?

She isn't a massive eater anyway but it doesn't look like she's been near the new food.

Get her normal food.

You shouldn't really change their food like that - though I know needs must as the devil drives - as it could upset her stomach. When changing food it should be gradually transitioned.

My lot will eat anything but they don't like iams at all. they look in disgust at at. I would also go back too the orginal food. Others might upset her tummy

Mine loves tuna - mind you she's not fussy. The only thing she's not keen on is mackeral (can't say I fault her there as its pretty smelly oily stuff...)

Amber won't eat human food (she's weird) and she doesn't even like fishy cat food.

I did a sort of gradual change over, this is her first bowl of Iams, the past few have been a mixture.

It will have to wait until tomorrow now - She'll be OK until then I'm sure?

Unless she is elderly or unwell she should be OK. It isn't good for cats to go without food as it can affect their liver but it's 2 days, 3 tomorrow - I would think that would be OK. You might try her on a cheapo food from the corner shop if you have one near you - a tin of Felix or something.

Most cats are very fussy eaters.

I would get her the food she usually eats. They will eat from the hand sometimes if it is something new. They may not.

Over my time spent with cats I have found that some love meat (beef and so on) or fish. Some only like moist food others dry and some like both. Our present three go for fishy type both moist and dry but I vary the boxes to stop them getting bored. A cheap food that is not eaten is not cheap and so an expensive sort that does get eaten is worth paying for. Surprise them with new smells and it will keep them wondering what is comming next.
