I do find it funny, but everyday she gets on like this and its only with the postman, she hears the van before i even see it and starts growling and then goes nuts when the letters are put through

I wouldn't encourage this behaviour tbh, it only has to catch posties finger one day and you could be in trouble.
Get a letter cage for your door to protect postie and dog.

Also train her that post is not a threat, it's a very stressed dog that reacts so extremely to an every day event.

ETA, I use to deliver leaflets etc as a kid and these kind of dogs were a PITA!!

99% of the time shes the most loveable timid wee dog!

I think its more the red van and the letters invading her territory than the postman as we have introduced her to him before and she was fine with him, she is also always upstairs in my mothers room before he comes so no chance she will ever get to bite him!

She destroys the post, what if you get a cheque or money or important papers in the post?
You seem to let her go especially to do this. I agree with the other posts, best not to let her out or put a letter box on door. The other dog behaves well.

Yeah the other dog is 16 lol, shes good except when the yorkie starts barking!

I blame my mum, we all got her the yorkie as a substitute for grandchildren haha and she treats her exactly like a child

What if you weren't there when someone put something through your door ? accident waiting to happen and the dog would be the one to lose their life.

My mum is a housewife and is nearly always home! And should she not be there Bella stays in her room upstairs and the door is closed!

Nothing remotely close to an "accident" has happened yet! She is always be at the top of the stairs and wont move unless a letter is put through

Repeating my earlier statement she is a very timid dog, does not even go near anyone she doesnt know! Its just the red van she doesnt like and obviously the letters

Timid dogs can become biters, fear biting is common. It really isn't something to encourage, and being nearly always there isn't enough if you cannot watch for people putting things through the letter box 24/7 an accident can happen.

A simple cage for the post is all you need to keep your dog and the people posting things safe.

We had a Yorkie when I was growing up, and this is EXACTLY the way he behaved with the post. Literally, everything in that video, he also did! We had to install an inside mail box to catch the post, because it was all just getting ruined.

I think a lot of dogs react like this. I don't think they are necessarily stressed, they are just defending their territory, which is only natural.

I have a leaflet delivering job, and all you have to do is make sure your fingers don't go through to the other side of the letterbox. It's not a problem!

We had a Westie as a kid that did the exact same.

We blamed the paperboy. The evening newspapers were usually shredded at one end, as though he had been teasing the dog by wiggling them when putting them through the letterbox.

One day, the postie was bitten on the hand when putting mail through the letterbox and my parents got a letter from the Royal Mail, stating that they had to put a cage behind the letter box or collect their mail from the sorting office.

How long ago was that? I'm surprised they didn't sue! It's always the fault of someone else, isn't it? I love dogs, but I wouldn't allow (let alone encourage) my dog to be aggressive with someone. Just close the dog off from the front door when you're out - not rocket science!

I hate the nature of the video in the OP. All fun and games until someone gets hurt. You're deliberately encouraging the dog to be stressed and it isn't funny.

Sorry, that was very ranty...
