My elderly male cat was ill recently and my vet said he should now be on wet cat food. Previous vet had him on Hills R/D weight reduction but it was not doing much good and I think contributed to him being dehydrated. Anyway thats by the bye.

I thought I would get him some quality wet food and came across lots of positive stuff about Bozita which he did seem to enjoy but after a few days I did notice his poo was a bit squidgy in parts. Sorry about that.

The thing is that there is so much in one of those tetra packs and it is so "meaty", maybe I should not give him so much which leaves me with a problem of how to not waste the rest of the pack before it goes off. Hope this makes sense.

How long do you think the food would keep in the fridge as I think one pack would be more than enough for him over two days? Do you think I could freeze any excess?

I would like to feed him the Bozita in smaller amounts perhaps mixing with something else alternately to assess if it is a bit too rich for him.

What do you cat lovers think please.

I never heard of the food tbh. but with regarding the keeping in the fridge. I only used too keep cat food in for 24 hours at the most. when you said he poop was squidgy did or does it have bubbles in it.

Ooh I did not really examine it too closely. It was at 4 am this morning just before I left for work. This food is sold on Zooplus and it seems everyone raves about it as it contains 93% per cent meat, compared to 4% which is in most brands.

I think it may just have been a bit rich compared to what he has been having.

It comes in Tetra packs which contain 370 grams so there is a lot in there. I'm going to leave it for a while and keep him on food that does not cause any tummy upset and see how he goes. Thanks. I did find out the food can be kept in fridge for up to 48 hours.

The vet advised only 2 pouches a day which would be around 200grams so there is nearly enough for 2 days.

I give my cats Bozita for special treats. As long as you keep it in an airtight container, it should keep in the fridge for at least 3 days.

Thanks will bear that in mind. Of course this would not be a problem atall if I had two cats! (can't afford another one sadly).

Whenever introducing a new food, to avoid upsets like squidgy poo, introduce the food gradually alongside the previous food, ideally and then raise the quantity of the new food over a week or so.

A sudden change of diet can be a problem in most species - dog, rabbit, sheep, horse - not just cats... and an elderly cat is more likely to have a problem with a sudden change of food.

Yes I totally agree. I was giving him a bit of it to try but its just not a great food to try due to the amount in the pack. The 100g pouches are much better for feeding a small amount in trial.

I wanted to try the Bozita as people have said it is much more filling due to high meat content. He is now only allowed two pouches a day and no dry so I am feeding little and often but its hard to eke that amount out!
