Another excellent interview conducted by Iain Dale which showed clearly why Andrea Leadsom should be elected as the new Conservative Party leader.

Yes I heard that interview. She was doing so well selling herself she was positively showing off! She still came over as a strong candidate and a good brexiter, but I'm not sure she'd be my candidate of choice.

Having another female PM would really be one in the eye for the labour party though. They have tried so hard with their egalitarian ethos and positive discrimination to promote females whether suitable or not.

As pro-BREXIT, Brexiteer myself, I fully endorse Andrea Leadsom as the new Tory leader/PM.

I first noticed her on 15th March in the Guardian debate held at the Palladium where she'd replaced Nigel Lawson at short notice. I was extremely impressed and have been very pleased that she's now come to the attention of the public.

I hate positive discrimination and quotas for minorities, so yes, it is a great shot "in the eye" for the Labour Party which always wants to patronisingly legislate for minorities lowering standards in the process.

To stay on topic with radio, I reckon she'd also be a great editor for Radio 4's "Today" programme.

I'll endorse that. I used to think May would be a good leader but then she came out for Remain. She played a clever game by staying in the background but I'd prefer to have somebody who is proud to stand up for their convictions. I like Boris but I never saw him as PM.

Andrea is a chance and an opportunist.
Posted in the other thread about the disappearance of her pro EU speech and all pro EU comments from her website over the weekend.
Clichés and plattitude is all we have heard from her. Anyone who uses that sunlit uplands drivel should be avoided at all costs.
At least May seems to be the only grown up left in English politics from any party since the ref.

But May has been anti-EU for years. I suppose Dave said join our side and you can keep your job. There must be quite a few MPs and others who were promised jobs or honours who won't be getting them!

Doesn't diminish the fact that AL is a chance.
If she doesn't get the PM job she could always advise dodgy Dave on where to hide his cash offshore.
The one government action that will help everyone in the UK in the next few years is stricter control on tax avoidance and evasion. Andrea Leadsom is up to her neck in enabling the richest to avoid paying their due.
Plenty of time for her time in the City to be exposed to some sunlight. Sure she wouldn't object

Looking forward to Ms Leadsom explaining how all in all she was only on the FSA register for 3 months ever, whilst allegedly occupying all manners of senior banking positions and being 'alongside' Eddie George telling it like it is to (real) bankers.

Wonder if the tax return will be as creative as the cv?

Back to the days of the Virgin Queen Will we be trading with countries offering shiny beads or at the end of a gun barrel?

Lord Price clearly knows all about exporting, only ever having worked for export powerhouse Waitrose.

With 33 years' experience in that same company, it may be surprising to see him forgetting to mention that the falling pound is not so good for the poor people in this country, who will now face higher food prices - since much of it is imported.

Think she will say that Italy has been said to be on the edge of disaster since before she was born and that all politicians are best ignored
Most Italians I know have a scant regard for politics, thinking about it they have a scant regard for a lot of any authority.
Seriously, things are not looking bright ATM and some strict measures need to happen. When the schools break up here we are off to Naples for a few weeks so will get more idea of what's going on.

It's terrible what the EU has done to Greece and Italy. If we stay in the EU it will happen to us also. The Euro is a disaster as is the ambition for a European Superstate.

The Greek problem started by their inability to collect tax in their own country. A self inflicted wound and without the EU it would have been a lot worse.

If the EU is so bad, why did 86% of Greeks wanted to stay on the euro ? and 94% in the EU? And that was at the height if the crisis last summer when ATMs were rationing money.

You are not giving Greek people their due- unlike us they know who to blame and it is their politicians, not some dastardly conspiratorial.foreigner.

Thanks snowy.
We hear so much about bad eu lending them money and putting measures in place to try and get some back. That's how loans work.

Because when statist lefty-wefty bureaucrats and their cronies butcher a nation, many of the victims feel that their only option is to cling on to those institutions which have butchered them. When you add these victims to the numbers that make up the bureaucratic and crony classes in the society (plus those psychotics who think they should be lefty-wefty because it makes them "big-hearted people") you can end up with what looks like a majority of support for a self-destructive system.
