Hmm, well there is a job for you mucking out the political prisoners in my LBC dungeon at my King Foamar's Palace if you want it. James Max is a bit messy I have to say.

I'm sure on another forum somewhere there's a thread about a mainly socialist-leaning radio station that has a lot of criticism of what the content is about there. But here, we chew over what we're given.

Regarding strikes, the entire point of a strike is to withhold labour in order to bring attention to a perceived injustice. If it doesn't inconvenience anybody then it can be easily ignored and thus is entirely pointless.

This is why the government (of any flavour) harps on about the public being "allowed" to protest, but in "the right way" - the right way being in as quiet and inoffensive a way as possible so the protest can be completely ignored. Protest is supposed to be inconvenient to the power structure. That way they have to actually take notice of it. But instead of doing that they prefer to try to demonise anyone who dares inconvenience them or anyone else.

Totally barmy. I say, if the power structure is complaining about what I'm doing then I'm doing it right. These corrupt ne'er-do-wells have no interest in improving anything beyond their own coffers and have at all times to be forced kicking and screaming to do what they claimed they would do when pleading for a vote.

As a simple analogy, if I ask to be elected within your group to take all your money and go down the shops on your behalf to buy what you tell me to buy, will you protest when I come back with stuff all bought for myself with the money given to me? How dare you protest! There are "proper channels" for that, i.e., outside my back garden on a Monday evening when I'm away at wine-tasting class.”

Another brilliant post, and I echo your views.

By cutting benefits to the wealthiest of people is not going to lose them many votes.

I've been listening to the Ken and Dave podcast from Saturday where Chris Smith was the guest for the first half-hour. K & D make the point afterwards that you just don't hear a 'proper' interview these days, where someone is allowed to put their case without being 'Paxman-ed', i.e. harassed and cajoled. I think it helped that DM said Smith was a good friend of his...!

But I think they're right, and I wonder if any of their colleagues on LBC felt slightly embarrassed at that moment...

Nice to know that friendship crosses the political boundaries. DM was mates with the late Tony Banks as well; both Chelsea fans!

I think there is a term 'behind the Speaker's Chair', which means that they all get on with each other out of the Chamber.

Just because you disagree with someone politically, there is no reason not to be friends otherwise.

Just found this - almost like this thread !

Tell that to the poster who's got me in ignore because he disagrees with my 'politics'.

I have never put anybody on 'ignore'. If you don't agree with the poster just skip the message. I have often seen validity in posts from people that I would not normally agree with. Nothing should be set in concrete.

I would never put anyone on ignore, but I could understand a forum member doing it if, say, just as an example, he was the target of continued jibes about him being unemployed, which might be construed by some to be an unfriendly act.
Just my opinion.

John Prescott complains to LBC after presenter makes joke about him causing the floods by getting out of the bath

LBC must love the publicity... now if only someone important ever listened to Steve Allen they could be swimming like pigs in all the complaints.

Didn't one of the current presenters of LBC (Leading Britain's Conservatives) once work for a very right wing political party as a communications expert for them?

The same political party that advocates the destruction of disabled children "to save the country money".

She wouldn't have made the same joke about someone current like hefty Eric Pickles though, would she?

Typical LBC hypocrisy which ferments across the schedule from tabloid trash hack Ferrari to Iain "assault charge" Dale and to Duncan "UKIP want to kill disabled kids" Barkes.

Hollow right wing ranters without a thought of their own as it all comes from Murdoch or someone of that ilk.

Yet in their hypocrisy they wouldn't have Nick Griffin on to debate properly, would they?

Neo Liberal Conservatism, something that all three parties suffer from.

To be fair, Griffin has been featured on Judge Hartley-Brewer's show a couple of times.

Only to laugh at though.

Lets go through them all

Steve Allen - privately educated Tory
Nick Ferrari - privately educated Tory
James O'Brien - privately educated Champagne Liberal/Soft Left
Julia Hartley Brewer - privately educated Tory
Iain Dale - privately educated Tory
Clive Bull - privately educated Wet Tory
Duncan Barkes - more than likely privately educated Tory/UKIP
Ollie Mann - privately educated Tory

Not a lot of room for anyone to say anything of note amongst that lot, is there?

I certainly agree that there's a definite political bias in terms of LBC presenters, but I hadn't picked that up about Clive Bull, or even Ollie Mann. How did you come to those conclusions?

Just by listening to them.

And please this doesn't counter balance by "Red" Ken Livingstone, the millionaire 'Socialist".

I don't know where you're getting your 'information' but it isn't a reliable source. I suggest you go back and check. Or are you simply making it up as you go along? And what on earth does that final sentence mean?

I think you are being somewhat harsh on Duncan Barkes. He's certainly no hollow right winger, or even necessarily right wing in his viewa generally. But I agree about Ferrari. No doubt whatsoever where he's coming from.

I listen to Clive and don't pick up the same thing. And I don't think I mentioned Ken Livingstone, so not sure why you've brought that up.

Duncan Barkes is one of those libertarian sorts who is on the side of criminals, druggies and prostitutes. That is my conclusion from listening to him just since LBC went national.

As for Iain Dale, though he has been active in the Conservative Party, I think it would be more accurate to say he is supportive of politicians from across the spectrum. Everybody from Jacqui Smith to Nadine Dories. He thinks Chris Huhne has been rehabilitated.

Active for the Tories? He stood as an MP for them didn't he (and was well beaten).

A Political failure now doing drivetime, simply because he's a Tory.

From long term listening:

JHB and Iain Dale have declared many a time that they went to comprehensives.

Steve Allen's dad was in the military and was transferred around several different stations, so master Allen had to attend several different schools.

Clive Bull however attended Dulwich College, which is actually a public school!

In the UK the terms public and private school mean the same thing. The US 'public' school is transferred over here as 'state' school.

So perhaps there are just TWO presenters in a 24 hour period who went to the "comprehensive". How representative of the country LBC is!
