If the Thatcherite politics and that era specifically, had a soundtrack, it wouldn't have been the tailend of punk, or the Sheffield synth scene, it would have been the slow, metallic grate of a ladder being pulled-up. I think a lot of this is partly due to the (understandable) Londoncentricism of the station though. London, on the whole, did better under Thatcher than elsewhere: the North, Wales, Midlands and Yorkshire.

“By the way, I, too, thought that Nick Abbot was struggling last night and suspect that he inwardly groaned when he realized what his night's topic was going to have to be. He was even struggling quoting from the papers.”
Compare his irreverence for Blair, Brown, Mr Kim &c (all leaders on the world stage in their own right, whatever their politics &c) to the material he struggled with last night. With all respect to Carol and Mark Thatcher (which isn't that much, to be honest, considering his political and economic ambitions; but I know the pain of losing parents) I hope Nick's able to loosen-up a little tonight.

“I did enjoy his blog update on the LBC website, however, addressing some of the IDS (Work & Pensions) issues.”
The line about how long the market trader would need to work to earn a £million needs to be repeated as often as possible to put some of these cuts, and the people who are cutting, into some context.
Listening to Ian Payne and this poll is ridiculous. Owen Jones now...
