For those who don't know what they are, they're a bit like a pancake, only savoury........and made from oats

For those who do know what they are, what do you put in them? I'm pretty unadventurous with mine and usually just go with cheese and tomato

Had relatives who lived in the Potteries and always used to get Oatcake off them when they visited or we went up there.

Lovely with cheese or bacon. Saw them on a show the other day, and they had cheese and sausage ones.

I wonder if an oatcake shop would do well down here?

You can order them online from this place.

I've never had one, but saw someone making them on TV the other day, and they look yummy.

The fresher the oatcake the better it is, the less fresh it is the thicker and more rubbery it becomes. So you've got:

Supermarket oatcakes outside Staffordshire - pretty poor.

Supermarket oatcakes in Staffordshire - not too bad.

Freshly made oatcakes from an oatcake shop or market in Stoke - delicious.

My favourites are from a stall in Tunstall market and Hanley market, both owned by the same people. The oatcakes are thin, delicate and IMO the best you can get.

Ah, the Staffordshire Oatcake...a thing of beauty!

As the poster above says, the freshness with them is key. I tend to make my own, they taste much better than supermarket bought ones.
