Hi all,
I'm left with loads of self-raising flour and no recipes for using it apart from making cakes. I would like to make something savory out of it,but have no ideas. Any ideas are welcome. Thanks.

Suet dumplings probably for stews and soups, can also make a suet crust for quiches and pies.

American pancakes can be made with self raising flour too.

Mixed with water and a bit of salt it makes a perfect light crispy batter.
Mixed with less water till it sticks together and pummelled or rolled to up to 1/2 inch thich and lightly 'fried'/seared in a heavy duty frying pan it makes an instant 'bread'.
Or howz about some melting moments?
• 5 ounces butter
• 3 ounces caster sugar
• 2 teaspoons vanilla essence
• 5 ounces self raising flour
With half fat (I use butter) it makes good dumplings for stew etc.

beer bread:

3 cups self-rising flour
3 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 (12-ounce) can of beer
1/2 tsp salt

Preheat the oven to 375*F (190*C). Lightly grease or spray a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan with non stick cooking spray.

Combine all ingredients, mixing well.

Pour into prepared loaf pan and bake for 1 hour.

link to a few others.

The self raising flour already has the baking powder added.

Usually though I make them up as I go along (which is a no no for baking )

I have just used some self-raising flour in a cheese sauce because I didn't have any plain one and there is no difference whatsoever.
