Hi guys.
Shane Filan (Westlife) has launched his new official website. At the moment it's Just a countdown. The site goes live on Friday when he is also due to announce the launch of his solo career. The URL for his official site is shanefilan.com. He has signed to Universal Music Group.

Can't wait for the announcement on Friday. What about you Guys?

I'm very interested to see what his musical style will be.

I don't like that Walsh has been saying that he will be next Michael Buble - if he means that he will sing jazz/swing/contemporary songs like him, I won't mind at all as I'm a huge Buble fan. BUT I hope Walsh doesn't mean he will sing mostly cover songs like him - Shane doesn't need that right now, especially since everyone slagged and hated Westlife because of releasing too many covers.

I know it has been said recently that Mark will release his solo album before Shane, so I'm interested about that too.

Really excited about this, he looks great in the pic on the site, it looks like a classy image but it doesn't neccessarily match up with the Buble style, which imo is a good thing. Looking forwards to hearing his music though, definitely staying openminded until we hear everything, keeping fingers crossed he will deliver though.

Also great news about it being Universal, delighted about that as I feel they're a much stronger and more daring label.

Roll on Friday, I wonder if they'll give away a free download when the site launches like with new artists?

I was just saying that to my friend - I mean, wouldn't he be in the suit if he went with Buble style?

I'm very happy he is at Universal, everything is better than Syco really! It is good that Mark is at Quest Management as well.

Shane has a brilliant voice - he is so consistent, I have never heard him miss a note in the 14 years of Westlife, he ALWAYS sounds live like he sounds in the album. Even that little sigh he does in the first seconds of Flying Without Wings - I remember the other boys always teased him about that

On the voice alone, he deserves the success - but, music industry is cruel, it is especially difficult for boyband members to succeed. But who knows, we will see...

Next Michael Buble? Why can't he be the first Shane Filan? It really bugs me all this talk about "the next"!

Agreed with this, definitely.

Shane Filan has a beautiful pop voice, so consistently note-perfect when he sings. He's got a really amazing voice, and on the basis of that he deserves success. Whether he achieves success or not is another story - it's not a very 'popular' style at the moment, and not very 'cool'.

But I hope he does well, because he deserves to and I'd love to hear his music.

Also looking forward to Mark Feehily's solo stuff, interested to see what styles he goes with.

Exactly! He needs to be himself, not the next Buble or whoever - that also annoys me. But maybe that was just talk - he himself never said anything about that. Plus, he was recording in Tennessee - it is kind of weird that he would sing swing/jazz songs there...

I thought I was very clear in my post - if he goes with Buble musical STYLE which is jazz/swing/contemporary pop, I'm fine with it. But if he goes with covers that Buble does, then I would mind.

Also, keep in mind that most of Buble singles are the songs he wrote himself - Home, Hollywood, Hold On, Everything, Haven't Met You Yet, It's a Beautiful Day, Lost - all these songs are original that he wrote and he will have another 3 original self-written songs on his upcoming album.

Buble is crooner and he always will be one, but he also does have original songs.

Having seen Shane's announcement, it looks more and more that he won't do covers. He said he has been writing songs and you can see few photos of him holding a notebook with the songs he wrote.

Also, I'm very glad he has signed with London Records and that he will release his 1st single in he summer - this probably means he will release also a 2nd single right before he releases the album.

I'm very happy that #FilanFriday was trending no.1 worldwide when the site was launched and that it is still at no.4 almost 2 hours later. That is a very good start and it shows that people are interested in hearing his solo material.
