So going by the Facebook replies alone - some of which were underrepresented, like Boston actually had 750 but FB only said 450 - I figure the CD signing events have been worth 6000 copies alone, and they might get some more trickle sales for the next week. The final sales tally should be real interesting when its announced.

10. John Fogerty - Wrote a Song for Everyone
I think Fogerty is out of the running for #3, to be honest. However, Gatsby has been surprisingly strong so the spot isnt a lock for anyone I dont think.
DNA the song will have sold ~20k at the end of the chart week.
I wouldnt be so sure about that. I think if its down to those 2 for #3, LM will just edge it out because of the physicals.** Even if LM doesnt I think #3 and #4 will be very close.
I'd say at this point DNA is Top 5 for sure.
** The reason I keep harping about the DNA physicals is that I dont think HDD and Billboard's statistical models could account for the wildcard that was the CD signing promotion this week. There really wouldnt have been a way to model that.
Before them, there was Bananarama. Did they ever release an album over here? I only recall their hit singles which are still played to this day, unlike the Spices.
I have to say I'm really looking forward to the Billboard article on the chart week as I think they'll dredge up all sorts of esoteric UK-girl-groups-who-crossed-over facts.
Absolutely! Little Mix could be even bigger than The Spice Girls. Plus, they’ve got an added bonus in that all four of them have equally amazing vocals. With The Spice Girls, vocals weren’t our strong point.

Bananarama were poor vocalists in terms of harmonising just like The Spice Girls but they had a few good songs in their discography, 'Cruel Summer', 'Robert De Niro's Waiting' and 'Love in the First Degree'.
The 80s wasn't a great time for girl groups and Bananarama were seen as a singles group anyway. 'Venus' was a huge hit all over the world as I remember. For many guys like me they were the only girl group with credibility but you still wouldn't buy the records.
There were at least three albums released in the US and I always thought they had done well there, not no 1 or anything but top 20. That was success then. It was surprising as our view of US music in the 70s and 80s was that you had to have real ability to succeed.
I appreciate Mel C honesty. How can one compare SG and LM? Is this because they're both British girlband?
I loved Bananarama especially cruel summer and Venus.
For the information all 3 girls sang unison and the harmonies one can hear on their records were done by professional back up singers.
The 2 remaining girls said they did not know how to harmonise and only sang the melody lines on studios...
What a fraud? Then again the British are so gullible lol
Hah!! It's not so much that many of us here are just that .. but more so that our national pre-occupations are 'the weather', 'politics' and envy ... add to that a loss of simple respect plus cynicism in general and you get a lot of bit**ing...;)
Of course, the perceived anonymity offered by the web. encourages many to vent their frustrations with little or no corrective action or pressure being applied by ones peers or society as a whole..:p

Not difficult to beat the Spice Girls for singing apart from Mel C. They relied a lot on their image.
It comes down to LM having that ingredient for success - the 'IT' factor. I personally dont see it - they are a thrown together band with no stand out personalities.
Posted on Denden in reply to someone commenting that LM's fans seem to be only young girls/teens...
I'm gonna see them on good morning America this Friday when I go up to New York and I am fully prepared to be a close to 30 year old man in a crowd of teen girls!

Bear in mind with the itune charts, even in the US, physicals still outsell digital albums 2 to 1.
I think the tieing in of buying a cd to getting a pass to the meet and greets will skew it even further, I thought if they sold 25k they were doing well, but I suspect the billboard prediction of 45k is much closer to the truth, and I think that would be the biggest selling debut week for a girl band since the Dixie Chicks in the late '90's.(who werent completely new and had 2 indie albums behind them, albeit with a different lineup)
Annoying thing about it falling out of the top 10 is people will start searching for it, rather than seeing it on the homepage and buying. Result of which will probably be more of an equal split in downloads between the deluxe and standard editions. Will be interetsed to see if standard edition downloads pick up a bit.
It must be Discount Sunday. Now Usher's album has entered the fray and Blake Shelton knocked off Daft Punk.
This is interesting. On the videos iTunes chart, DNA is #40 and Wings #41. The HYD video is still blocked in the US. If HYD is going to be the next single, they better unblock it quick.

Ah yes!! The cult of "Personality" --- You are a nobody unless you have one.... That puts you in the same bracket as the rest of us...
Shame you don't see that LM have a group personality as well as individual ones..
Perhaps you can enlighten the rest of us as to whom you feel does have personality??? - Please give us the opportunity to criticise your preferences.

Looks like my prediction is looking about right.

Not anymore. This is from Billboard for the last chart week:
The report for the entirety of 2012 had 197 million physical 90 million digital.
1 week isnt enough to identify a trend.
5,189,000 albums were sold in the USA last week.
2,258,000 were digital albums.
2,931,000 were physical cds/vinyl albums/cassettes.
5,107,000 albums were sold in the USA last week.
2,127,000 were digital albums.
2,980,000 were physical cds/vinyl albums/cassettes.
5,511,000 albums were sold in the USA last week.
2,141,000 were digital albums.
3,370,000 were physical cds/vinyl albums/cassettes.
5,403,000 albums were sold in the USA last week.
2,199,000 were digital albums.
3,204,000 were physical cds/vinyl albums/cassettes
5,423,000 albums were sold in the USA last week.
2,279,000 were digital albums.
3,144,000 were physical cds/vinyl albums/cassettes.
The trend is going away from physicals.
