Oooo new thread. Hi all.

I'm been doing a bit of a re-watch and it's funny how much Brendan ends up contradicting himself really.

'I'm not a killer, Steven.' - responsible for 3, almost 4 murders.

'I'm not an arsonist.' - Makes Joel set fire to Seamus in a shed, burns down Walker's shack.

'I don't hurt women.' - Kills Nana.

All done for a reason, but it still gives me a chuckle

Oh god there, she took Steven away from him because he can't love.

He learnt to love and he spent his last months of freedom happy

He spent some if it happy but HO actually annoyed me at the end with a lot of the unnecessary angst. They had his temper come back, they had him hit ste, they had him back to feeling he didn't deserve ste, they had him say he missed the old him and that he was ashamed of his whole life. They had ste constantly doubt him... I know they had to keep the drama and show walker messing with what was important to him but it all just marred it a little and I'd have liked to have seen a little more happiness. The worst part for me was after him changing and all the gorgeous moments with ste the last image we had if them kissing included ste with facial injuries. I think they gave him redemption but also gave anti stendan fans the ammo to say 'once an abuser' but I guess they had to keep everyone happy. It just really annoyed me. I guess it was realistic to show that he had changed but his change was ongoing and he still had issues especially because of the abuse and then the Kevin accusations... And it led to him accepting responsibility for his actions and to telling ste about seamus and all that i just wish it had been less violent. Anyway we got some amazing stuff and I just love brendan brady... That is all

Clare has superstrength too

Damn my shippy heart though. Maul both in the cage together, Paul with a head wound, and the way Jen talks about them, it's hard not to go aww

I do just want to know what's next for them after Clare. Although I'm sure there'll have to be angst when Paul find out Mercedes was in on the scheme with Clare in the beginning. They'll have fallen out in Vegas and it's somehow Paul's fault, I bet. That'll be why she did it.

I can't believe Clare locks her in a cage and surrounds her with rabid dogs.

Am I the only one who thought Emmett's tweet was rude in a way to Kieron?

Or do I have overlysensitive protective Kieron feels right now?

I don't think so no. I don't see anything rude about it, just he normal banter and making light of keiron saying emmett is better than him

Not at all, was it the use of f*cko? It's a term of endearment for him

Interesting that Claire and Emmett have both said they decided to leave a while back and part of their decision was because they didn't want their characters to go into territory untrue to character.

I wonder what kind of storylines Claire was offered. I have no doubt they both left the show on good terms but it's interesting all the same.

I agree with her that Jacqui has come to the end of the road but I'll still miss her. Perhaps one day they can all be tempted back and it'll be worthy of their characters (unlike a certain blonde bombshell currently )

I think that's always a risk when you stay on a soap for a long time. I think Emmett was probably right to leave before it reached the point where they'd start suggesting affair storylines or anything like that. His story felt complete.

Claire was in a different position. Jacqui was pretty much made into a blank slate again with Rhys gone. I think she maybe felt that it was a natural time to go. Maybe if Andy was still there then she wouldn't have. But she said she's known for a year or something right? So I guess not.

I can see why, I think with brendan certainly because his love for ste was all consuming and they got together so where can you take that when you've already done the whole break up, move on, get back together. His stories were beginning to repeat and he said he didn't want that. How many times could ste meet someone else and have brendan try to 'win' him? How many times could an opponent come in and threaten Brendan's loved ones? How many times could he find a reason to kill someone? How many times could someone come in and have him hide his sexuality? How many times can a blast from the past appear? It was happening over and over. So he had to change but then after the change, then what? He said himself brendan could never be someone that goes to price slice and just kind of hangs around the village... Claire I'm nt so sure on, her character has been there so long but she has had some pretty amazing stories and I'm sure they'd have kept coming up with more. Emmett said the show was evolving and I guess maybe they planned to make changes that didn't fit with what he actors wanted. BK may have wanted to make it a more commercial show and where does someone like brendan even fit in there? I personally think there's a lot left unanswered and unexplored if they do ever reprise the roles however I do fear if they do come back the show will have moved on and the characters may not fit as snugly as they did before, as is always the case.

Oh definitely, and unlike all the other soaps Hollyoaks characters don't tend to stay for the long haul. I'd agree about Brendan but now, for me, it feels unfinished

I guess it didn't help they pretty much ruined Racqui at the end either. Rhys gave Jacqui a new lease of life from the off and I guess it's not the kind of magic you can replicate.

I'm not even sure they'd revisit Tony and Jacqui either if she wasn't leaving. Maybe she'd have got someone new.

Ok, I was thinking he didn't respect the interview and then just saying a few token words ...but yeah he jokes around in a good way

Besides, I want ALL of his tweets to Kieron to be words of undying love, devotion and lust which isn't too much to ask is it?!! haha

Yes that's very true. It's definitely a new era at Hollyoaks. I'm interested to see where it all leads but I literally have two favourites left and I've now lost five if I count Cheryl
