Well as predicted Fox are releasing A Good Day To Die Hard uncut on DVD with the BBFC rating it '15'. It pisses me off that the UK always falls victim to scams like Fox pull to get those few 'extra' viewers.
I didn't see it on the cinema, refusing to because of it being toned down for kids. You wouldn't see Kick-Ass being toned down would you? No, why? Because its not for kids just like Die Hard isn't for kids.

Doesn't surprise me in the least that they are doing this, interestingly tho they are releasing a digital copy of the film without extras on May 14th & then the actual DVD / Bluray release on the 10th June UK (4th June USA). I know a few people who will get the digital copy illegally on the principle of being screwed by Hollywood with the butchered version. I will probably get the digital copy to play on my tablet or media center computer & also have the Blu-ray once it gets released.

It's almost as if Fox was in the business of making money.

This.

As a massive Die Hard fan I think I can safely say that even if the film hadn't been edited it would still be a really poor film (even countries that got the R rated version said it was poor) the problem wasn't just in the lack of swearing and violence, the film had a terrible script, poor direction, and featured an extremely disinterested looking Bruce Willis. Just save yourself some money and don't buy it.

Oh don't worry I will fully intend on saving myself some money by obtaining the uncut version by any means necessary, if I like it then I will buy the Blu-ray, if I don't like it then I will delete the file. Hollywood provided cinema goers with a butchered film, they can jolly well suffer the consequences in the form of illegal downloads.

Thing is, it's sort of done okay. $300m worldwide ($67m US & $233m Int.), puts it on par with an Expendables.

Coming off a $92m budget (a cheaper sequel than DH4 btw) probably means another could be churned out should they wish. Yes, the US figure is a bit miserable, but then it was R-rated as many seemed to want.

Over to you, Bruce.

Kick Ass was self-financed, because studios didn't want to do it. Matthew Vaughn said he'd only sign a deal with a studio for Kick Ass 2 if they let him do what he wanted. Since he signed with Universal, presumably he got what he wanted.

Kick Ass was only left untampered with, because the producer cared about it. Nobody involved in Die Hard gave a shit...

And yet again they insist on taking McClane globetrotting and fail to realise that the Die Hard films are better when the threat is a smaller and more personal one. Pass.

No doubt that they'll have Bruce stood in the middle of Tokyo shouting "i'm on vacation!" since that seems to be McClane's new catchphrase these days... This series is dead to me after the abortion that was the fifth film. I'll stick to my Die Hard 1-3 Blu Rays thank you very much...

Die Hard 5 got too much slack, was easily better than Oylmpus has fallen and the likes.

Sorry but i respectfully and strongly disagree, Olympus Has Fallen was the film that Die Hard 5 should have been. It was a better Die Hard film than the last two "real" Die Hard films combined (imo).

I enjoyed it, would have enjoyed it more if they didn't call it Die Hard but hey, very well put together I thought, some excellent car crashes and the chemistry between Father & Son I thought was great. Some nice plot turns to keep you interested.

If it is then well deserved as well, them idiots at FOX butchering the film so they can release it to a younger audience was disgusting & if people are able to get their monies worth by obtaining an uncut version of the film, then good on them.

Didn't want to watch Die Hard 5 at cinema wasn't happy they cut allot of footage that wasn't in the movie that was only in the trailers. The extended uncut version going to bluray and not to dvd. Wish it could be released to dvd as well. No special features to dvd or bluray.

Fox have submitted a load of short featurettes to the BBFC, are you sure your information's correct? http://www.bbfc.co.uk/releases/good-day-die-hard-2013-5 (Under Related Works: VAM)
