Just thought I'd post this quickly before I get off to work.

I've had this for a while but just never thought to ask about it.

When tethering my iPhone with my computers, I tend to see every now and again, the data stream randomly just stop.

So this could happen when downloading a file (which if its a normal download causes it to time out which is annoying) or in a youtube video causes the video to stop buffering, and have to refresh the page.

I thought at first it was maybe something to do with my computer but i've tried it on 3 different ones (granted, all windows machines) and i have the same issue.

My other half hasn't complained when she's tethered hers so I'm going to give that a go and see if hers does indeed do the same thing after a bit of heavy usage.

Anyone else encountered this problem? It's super odd since when i speed test the phone while it's somehow stopped streaming video on the computer, it posts back over 10Mbit so it's still getting data, but just not sharing the love; and before hand the video in 1080p buffers along really quickly until it randomly just stops.

Help? haha!

Interesting not heard of this problem from anyone and I know a few people who use IPhones as replacement for mobile broadband when travelling which network you with it might be them blocking the tethering.

I often encounter something similar when tethering where all of a sudden it seems the download speed on the PC/tablet is really slow whilst the phone continues to seem fine. I don't have an answer, I'm still finding being on the One Plan with unlimited tethering data really novel and liberating.

Agreed about the One Plan being like that It one all people can agree on it's really nice not to have to watch your usage for internet any-more.

Yeah it is odd and not something I've really heard of either.

I'm hopefully gonna get a replacement phone since mine has managed to get dust all inside the camera and the lock button isn't working all the time now (4 months of usage haha) so just need to get a trip to Aberdeen (apple store 4.50 advance train ticket each way or pay 50 for a next day replacement.

Right so I had a T-Mobile Hauawei dongle lying around and got a nano sim adapter and threw my sim card in there.

Connected with the settings it had so thought I'd go test it!

1Mbit down and 1.5Mbit up.... It's clearly connecting to the Orange mast that my iPhone always ignores since it only connects to T-Mobile ones!

I can't find any way to make it ignore them. I tried the everything apn to see if that made a difference. nope. nada.

I was hoping that using my sim in a dongle (especially one enabled for DC-HSDPA) would mean I could really use it for full time internet use since my plan includes unlimited data & tethering.

So any way to make this ignore orange masts? Custom software etc perhaps? I've had a little browse but nothing so far
