Anyone else like high cocoa content chocolate?
It's the only chocolate I eat now. Minimum 85% cocoa content, preferably higher. I usually buy Lindt Excellence 90%, but sometimes buy other 85 and 86% bars, when the Lindt 90 isn't available anywhere locally. Cote d'Or 86, and Thorntons 85, are favourites.
Can't get away with the high sugar content chocolate I used to eat. It just tastes sickly. |

I don't I find over 85% too bitter for my taste. I thought it might have been the type that I bought but I went through the G&B range and really couldn't taste any real difference
![]() I'm not a dairy milk fan but 50%-60% is good. |

I do like dark chocolate more than milk, but about 70% is my limit. Especially when eating Green and Blacks or whatever.
Tend to stick to Cadburys Bournville. 85% is too harsh for me. |

I don't like really bitter chocolate (dark) but I do like and enjoy high cocoa milk chocolate like Carte D'Or (I think - in a red wrapper), Hotel Chocolat, Lindt.. can be very nice indeed
Carte D'Or especially has a much stronger chocolatey taste

Hotel Chocolat......... I tried one of their 100% cocoa bars. No good. Need some sweetness.
Not really much choice in my home town. Lindt 90 and 85, Tesco 85 (not bad), Morrisons 85 (don't like), Green and Black's 85 (don't like). That's all. |

I eat a few squares of dark chocolate each day for its health benefits, though I usually enjoy it as well.
Currently going through a Lindt 85% bar but I'm happier with the 70% stuff - for a more rounded flavour.

I love the Lindt 90 bars! Intense chocolate hit and not too much sugar.
The other good thing for me about very dark chocolate is the quality brands avoid using any dairy products which is handy as I'm allergic to cow's milk. |

I've always been a dark chocolate fan and since I now have to be careful about sugar I do find the high cocoa ones good as a couple of squares is plenty!
Must admit though that for me the 90% is a step too far! |

If anyone doesn't already know the trick with heavy duty dark choc is just to give it a little chew and then just melt in your mouth, mmmmmm gorgeous

I also much prefer high-cocoa chocolate these days. I can't remember the last time I ate any other kind of bar - I find them much too sickly now. I don't eat much chocolate, but when I do it has to be some of the good stuff! We order some from Hotel Chocolat a couple of times a year, and I also love the Green & Blacks range.

Yes, 85% is my favourite and about as high as I would go. I had Lindt 90 for a while but it did border on being too bitter. I also eat 70% from time to time - especially at Easter when that's about the darkest egg you can find in most stores.
I've had milk chocolate occasionally since "switching" to dark and although I didn't find it overpoweringly sweet, it wasn't really to my taste. I had some white chocolate though and that stuff was sickeningly sugary. |

I found this in Aldi last week:
http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/produc...ange_18283.htm The sour cherry/chilli one is 85% cocoa solids, but for those who find the taste too bitter, it is counteracted by the chocolate mousse filling. It looks like one large bar, but is actually five smaller bars wrapped individually, each one with four sections. Great value for £1.69, and it was delicious. I finished the lot within five days (I had to restrain myself only to have one small bar a night, and I'm far from being a chocolate addict!). Last edited by Tasa : 12-04-2013 at 20:03. I love the higher cocoa content chocolate. But I think 90% is my limit. The Lindt 99 is just crazy bitter. And it sticks in your mouth for ages afterwards

I rarely eat chocolate but I do go for the higher percentage, darker chocolate when I have a square or two.
