Inspired by a comment I just read in the Stooshe - Slip thread, I wondered what two consecutively-released singles by any band or artist, that you can remember, is your favourite combination?

For me, the one that immediately springs to mind is Madonna's 'Sorry' and then 'Get Together' from Confessions on a Dancefloor, but I'm sure there are many more combinations!

I think this could make a change to threads on albums where artists have released singles in a poor order, as well - to serve as a counterpoint to that.

Thoughts?

PS. Sorry in advance if the phrasing of the question's a bit weird. I hope it makes sense :P

I know it's going back a bit, but I refuse to believe that anybody will ever release two successive songs better than We Can Work It Out and Paperback Writer. I know the format no longer applies, but when you consider that WCWIO was backed by Day Tripper and that PW was backed by Rain, even the two B-sides would have been strong contenders. Day Tripper was also considered a joint A-side, but let's not split hairs.

I think you can take any 2 from three but U2 released them in this order:-

(1) 'With or Without You'
(2) 'I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For'
(3) 'Where The Streets Have No Name'

They read like the titles of three short stories and in a way they are but it might have been logical to have them (3) - (1) - (2)?

Three of the greatest songs ever written....

1 and 2 for sure!

Other notable mentions:

Leona Lewis: Run -> Happy.
The Killers: Mr Brightside -> Somebody told me
Florence and the machine: Never Let me Go -> Say my name

Pink: Blow me (one last kiss) -> Try -> Just give me a reason

Another three in a row

There's quite a few, but a more recent example that came to mind was the order in which Katy Perry released her Teenage Dream singles so it was like they were telling a story.

I especially liked the release of 'Part of Me' after 'The One That Got Away'.

God knows what my favourite is.
But notable one's I can think of are Sugababes, Push the Button followed by Ugly.
Girls Aloud, Sexy no no no followed by Call The Shots.
And maybe Ke$ha with Die Young followed by C'mon for a more recent one.

Heart of Glass - Sunday Girl

Their first twelve UK hit singles are all great songs, though.

There would probably be some from the 60s if I look back at my top 100 compiled last year.

In more recent times it is probably Kula Shaker with Hush and The Sound of Drums. Both these songs made my top 20 of the 90s!

Good shout, although I'd still go with The Beatles.
