That is sad but at least the cat is at the vet's and being kept comfortable, albeit probably wishing she was at home. Intravenous fluids do seem to perk up cats very well so, hopefully, she may yet be able to come home for a few more weeks or months.

Your poor mum. I would hate to be away and something happened to one of my cats - well, it did once but my cat was fine in the end though it ruined my holiday.

Keep us updated.

I'm afraid I had to ignore this yesterday which was entirely selfish.

A very sad time for you and your mum. I'm sorry for your great loss.

Don't be too sad - she had 13 good years. It's a good innings.

Aww thanks guys, it was horrid for mum as she couldn't be there, but it was the right thing to do, she was pleased to see me when I went in, but could barely lift her head, she did manage to purr till the end a d it was quick and I was glad she was finally out of pain. But the house is empty, even with the other animals, she was such a character.

Was in the shop today and the woman in front of me was chatting about her cat who'd stopped eating due to kidney problems and wanted to try prawns, ended up giving her a lot of the suggestions on this thread in the hope it helps her!

Big hugs, it's amazing what we resort to to try and give them extra time, my old girl used to love tinned pilchards in tomato sauce and M&S lasagne ( not any old lasagne, it had to be M&S) she used to lick the dishes out.
In the end she used to get bunged up sometimes too and would cry trying to go to the loo so we used to put a bit of olive oil on her food.
Here is another big hug my thoughts are with you and your mum.
Take care
