Yes loving Ministry. Great stuff. Think they they inspired Nine Inch Nails a lot
Yes, quite possible, they predate NIN by a couple of years and they were all part of the same scene. You can definitely hear the influence in the NIN albums that followed Pretty Hate Machine as that was relatively poppy compared to Downward Spiral and everything else that followed, until the last couple of albums which then went back to Pretty Hate Machine territory slightly - Year Zero in particular. Trent Reznor also worked with some of Ministry in the Pigface project, which is worth checking out. Also well worth checking out by NIN are the Fixed and Broken EPs, Fixed being a remix EP of Broken tracks.

And speaking of Pigface, there was a female vocalist called Lesley Rankne did a track with them, but her previous band Silverfish, and her solo work as Ruby are also worth checking out. all quite dark, Silverfish being more rocky and Ruby being sort of dark trip hop.

This thread has made me want to go back and listen to all of this kind of thing again.

Bloody hell where have I been. You know your stuff. Liking these bands. Ruby are really cool. Like the dark trip hop vibe. Can't believe Ive never heard of them before. Some of it Reminds me of the Bristol sounds. I swear the 90's produced some of the best music

Thanks, glad you're liking my suggestions. The 90s was definitely my era for music, when I was most obsessional about it, buying tons of CDs a week, spending weekends rooting through racks in music shops all over London, going to gigs every other weekend. The 90s was a great time for it though, new genres popping up evey month, so many great bands and albums, though it does make me feel quite old as a lot of those are now celebrating 25th anniversaries.

Ruby were pretty obscure really, but I thought it might be to your tastes, definitely got that Bristol type sound to it like Tricky, Massive Attack, Portishead, etc. Another band you might like if that's your sort of thing is Lamb. They're slightly drum & bassy rather than typical trip-hop, but they still have a darkness to them.

I feel old too haha. The 90s feels so far away now. Remember hopping around record shops in Soho. Glad I was there to experience it before the days of MP3's and all that. Did love that time.
Lamb yes. Ive heard people mention them before. I will try them out.

I'm constantly being suprised at how long ago the 90s was. Every time I see an album reaching some 20th or 25th anniversary it surprises me, i just can't believe it was that long ago. Nothing wrong with getting old though, it just means we've had more time to listen to great music than these young whippersnappers.

Thanks Sparks_1 and Miss Buzzybee.

The next is not much NIN but more Indie meets Post Hardcore.

AYWKTOD-Mistake and regrets.

The first three Albums are very underrated with mix of white noise Arab sounds and gothic outlines.
