Good things to buy that last for a while
I live on my own and have recently been doing online shopping to avoid going to one of my NINE Tesco's all in walking distance.
I would like to buy things that I can keep in my fridge for a number of weeks/months that won't go off rather than having the fridge running half empty. So, any suggestions apart from drinks? Additionally, any good things to keep in the cupboard for when you need to cook up a quick meal? Thanks. |

Cheese. It's not a fridge without a selection of cheeses.

Have you got a microwave ?
I keep emergency stocks of tinned goods in my cupboard as i don't like going out if it's raining so I want a few days stocks in............ Tinned steak pudding, stewing steak, M&S Curries, corned beef Tinned potatoes, sweet corn, peas............. you can easily make up a meat and 2 veg out of tins or a curry if you keep staples like, rice, noodles, cous cous etc in your cupboard Tinned ravioli is good for a snack |

Another good thing to keep in is cartons of Long Life Milk, a bag of Muesli and a variety of dried fruits
You can always make up a bowl of muesli and fruit for breakfast or as a lunch Dried fruit - I've currently got bags of figs, apricots, dates, apples, pineapple, mango, sultanas..............I went a bit mad a couple of weeks ago and bought one of every kind they had in tesco |

Lots of good tips here, but a decent-sized freezer is a must. Cook big batches of soups, stews, chillis, curries etc etc when you've got the time and freeze in individual portions. Along with store-cupboard staples like rice, pasta, cous cous, beans and pulses and so on, you'll always have a good, home-cooked meal on hand.

Freeze dried noodles.
You can buy the big packs and knockup your own sauce/stock or but the value range, or the authentic asian brands for very cheap. 12 or 18p per pack. |
