Bass player - does that count?

I'm shocked to realise how few there are. Polly Harvey? Certainly competent but not outstanding.

Charlotte Hatherley?

Can't think of any others.

Definitely, pity you had to link the Fergie duet though.

Annie Clark is probably one of the best around at the moment but she's more interested in writing good songs than showing off with wanky guitar solos.

Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads was a bass player and pretty good at it but there aren't many female bands which might explain the low numbers. Girls generally don't play guitar.

Viv Albertine of The Slits is good rather than great if I remember right.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6Jjm1jzIig

Gibson even named a did a version of one of thier guitars in her name

These were the first two names to come into my head.

I suppose you could add KT Tunstall. Her breakthrough perfomance on Later guitar wise was more due to the effect pedal she used.
She admitted in during the interview that most kids wanted to know what equipment she used rather than about her music
