Why do the judges ask their ages?

Why do they ask the acts their age? I mean, they wouldn't ask that at a normal interview.

If an act is good and worthy of putting through, it shouldn't matter what their age is.

Just a general question to get a conversation going. Anyway it adds to surprise elements like when you find out that girl was 11

Oh and I'm pretty sure you get asked this at any interview. What do you mean by a 'normal interview' because that's a pretty normal question to be asked at one

Oh and when have you seen an act not getting through because they were too old/young?

As far as I'm aware, the are not allowed to ask your age at a 'normal' work interview, equal opps and all that. Same as they are not allowed to ask if you are married or have kids.

Agree. They should just judge what is in front of them; age should be irrelevant. Most people have the ability to judge if someone is nearer 8 or 80 anyway.

I always feel as if the questions they ask are pretty much scripted, funny how they always seem to ask the right questions to fit in with the VT you've just seen about that act.
