Did anyone else find themselves getting bored after the first 30 seconds? There weren't any jokes that weren't about his disability.. it's incredibly predictable and therefore unfunny.

I did find him funny, but did not laugh, but smile, because he is doing what he loves doing, and that his disability is not stopping him!
But am just concerned of what other material he has other than making fun of himself! as the same stuff will not please the judges the 2nd time round!
But I do wish him the best of luck and hope he does something different!
I want him to make it!

I thought the laughs were out of sympathy and kindness rather than him being funny. But he was a likeable guy.

I was only bored because I'd heard his gags before on at least one other show he's been on.

I loved his personality and how he deals with his disability, didn't find him particularly funny but he made me smile, he was a feel good watch.

He had good delivery but his Self-deprecation style bored me. I doubt he will get much further although saying that Jo Brand seems to have done ok for herself. Saw her live once. Rubbish.

Francesca Martinez has digs at her own cerebral palsy and it doesn't seem to have done her any harm. With a lot more practice, this young guy could be very funny in the future.

Its a shame that all the jokes were about disability it kind of defeats the object that he can/aspire to be a brilliant comedian in his own right minus the self mocking.

I liked him, its good that his disability is not stopping him, his delivery was good and it was good that he can laugh at himself (I liked the Harry Potter and jacuzzi gags ) That said I wonder what he will have beyond self deprication as all the gags were really about himself. But on the other hand maybe this will increase awareness and positive perception of disability (I have CP too as it happens, but just very mild).
Good for him

During the two or three minutes he had he made me laugh at least two or three times and I was smiling throughout, which for me is a result. I would say that he has a rare talent for a fourteen year old. I am not sure he will win as, from what I can see from the first programme alone, he has very stiff competition. He is one to watch however. He needs to get more life experience and get as much practice at Open Mic sessions as he can. Who knows where he will end up in ten years time.

Was thinking just now he missed a trick in his VT when he was saying "I'm going to be doing some stand up comedy..", he should have added "er.. sorry, sit down..."

Sorry

I loved his personality and he made me lol four or five times.

All more than many very successful comedians have managed!

His jokes were all very predictable - and his delivery was forced.

He's a funny lad and charming but his actual jokes were poor.

When he was being interviewed before his performance, he said something along the lines of: he liked to make a joke about his disability first and get that out of the way, so that people don't feel uncomfortable about and just relax, and then he could move on to the funny jokes. But then in the actual performance he didn't move on from that subject. Presumably in the next round he will have to do some other material as well, or it would be too repetitive.

Do you think the judges will move him along to the semi's though? They are some good acts which they don't seem to put through.

I do agree with you but but his comedic timing is spot on so would work with other material. I guess for the time slot he wouldn't have much time to develop other stuff. I hope he does other stuff in the next routine as would get pretty stale very quickly

I agree with others, I hope he varies his material but his comedic delivery and timing were very good On the other hand many other professional comedians tend to stick to what they know and base material around that, so he is not alone in that respect. Turning perceptions on their ear, making a negative into a positive thing is a good idea.

Poor jokes, people were falling over themselves to be nice.. pathetic

Ant was "laughing" so hard at jokes I didn't even smile at, totally false

Have to agree with this the lad had a great personality and outlook but I didn't laugh once , fair enough some ppl found it funny but there were definetly ppl that felt they had to laugh which is quite patronising

I would prefer him if he didn't just be there doing jokes about his disability. I don't really get humour at times, if a non-disabled person said the same jokes it would be offensive yet because he did, it wasn;t ?

I think he was good, he's got the likable personality, hope next time he doesn't mention the disability though, see if he'd got some other stuff. Still he's young, could be really good in 10 years.
