There's no point in getting upset about Thatcher coverage and canonisation. It was bound to happen. Just ignore/avoid it for a while, it can't last that much longer. Then, when the strident voices declaring her supremacy have died down, history will deal with the facts.

In the meantime...some music.

That is a brilliant link! Does anyone know if there's a way to download the sound from YouTube? I've found some Ceefax Xmas stuff that I'd love in the background when the season comes around again!

As I was about to say in reply:

Napoleon said: 'History is written by the winners'. - paraphrased by Jean-Luc Picard as: 'The victors invariably write history to their own advantage,'

It is probably that you were trying to make a remark that is outside the rules

If Nick Ferrari is covering Baroness Thatcher's funeral, how will he be able to compose himself?

I think the suits at LBC should have given him compassionate leave.

I've stopped listening to LBC temporarily for the duration. I may try out the Steve Allen podcasts later.

Can highly recommend the Iain Lee podcasts (LBC or Absolute) or The old style Nick Abbot ones when he sat in for Iain.

It's a sod!! The heart always pounds as you think that you've been sent away for an unplanned holiday for a reason that you simply cannot explain. Scary stuff and no mistake, you don't have the authority and all that jazz. It's enough to make you reach for the Valium bottle if you ever had any such medication.

I stopped listening last night, I gave it a try but I was enraged after two minutes and retuned to 5Live and that didn't last much longer either as I was subjected to golf on the radio. Golf on the radio? What's that all about? Golf in glorious technicolor on TV is bad enough but on the radio? No way, Jose! I tuned into R4 and got Iain Dale and "What the Papers Say". A much better option than AD and his ridiculous oral delivery. I'll make a note to listen again next Sunday evening.

It could have been worse if the job had been given to Iain Dale.

Brian did not let the side down this morning with his Thatcher content using the excuse that he had been on holiday. Interesting to see a lot of callers boosting his already over inflated ego by sucking up to him with the welcome back comments. Pass the sick bag please.

Wouchers !! - O Brien was dull today .

At least he mentioned fairly quickly where he spend his hols .

After Butlins I'm entirely not surprised .In retrospect it was a nice 'we're in it together' gesture

History can somewhat be influenced by the winners and Wikipedia can even be (and is) routinely edited by various interested parties. However I think in these times of better, wider, freer access to information there is less chance of things being glossed over.

I mean, we supposedly won Iraq: The Sequel yet I doubt anything that glorious could be made up to paint Tony Blair in a positive light.

Anyway, being LBC-specific: Iain Dale, dude. Pull up your trousers, your colours are showing. Longest I've lasted on his show since this Thatchgate fiasco is about 15 minutes. I like to listen to the radio as I do the dishes, but I don't want to scour a hole in my pots!

NF has asked me to supply him with some opium He will be chilled out and might at certain times speak in Cantonese. It's a small side effect but worth listening to the Dimbleby of our times. It's still a rumour but Kelvin McKenzie might join him and they will reminice about the glory days at The Sun/Fortress Wapping/Rupert/Lazy Printers and how they both fell in love with Margaret. Carol Thatcher is willing to give LBC an exclusive but can't promise she won't say 'darkies'..Mark Thatcher priced himself out of the deal. I think LBC are leading the way and have shown other radio stations how to easily get the OBN

I thought Richard Bacon was the bottom of the barrel till I heard JHB, now I listen to him most afternoons through gritted teeth but at least I don't hurl the radio out of the window.
