How does Aisleyne end up in that group, btw? I can see why you have Victor, Makosi and Alex there, and I can see why you might have Ash above your next group, but I'm surprised you don't have a gap after the top 3. Ash didn't really do all that much in bb7.

Out of interest, how come you have Victor as your second favourite here, when you almost rated him the lowest out of all the HMs on this list?

Some things happened between this post in the 2010 all time ranking of the housemates poll:


And the post you linked, which is from the 2012 all time ranking poll.

Then some other things happened between that 2012 poll and now, with the result that my Victor ranking has have gone back to near what it was in 2010.

(My views of Dan bb5 also changed a lot, btw. I had him 10th in 2010 and 87th in 2012.)

I'm surprised by how little has changed between my 2012 rankings and the ones in this thread, because my opinions of HMs can change a lot (as the changes in Victor's and Dan's rankings show) and because there's a big 'middle area' in the all time ranking polls where I find it hard to tell where HMs should go. The biggest changes between 2010 and now is that I now think better of Makosi and Fed.

It's 7 years on now and we've talked a million and one words about Ash and co from that year, but seeing you asked.

She walked into a house that had big, colourful, unusual characters.
A house and series that was thriving and did not need her at that time, yet she almost instantly started to make a mark inside and outside the house. Only 'special' hm's could do that!
I liked the way she wound so many hm's up without trying. How so many didn't like her at one point or other, yet she still got on with so many of them.
Charismatic. Friendly. Fun loving. Emotional. Nice. Edgy. Bitchy. FAKE???
Who was Ash? Ghetto Ash or the one that returned from the HND?
Her sweet friendship with Ims.

I just found her endlessly
fascinating to watch as a BB hm.

I think it's only relatively recently that I realised that you liked Ash so much as a housemate.


A new housemate needn't be very 'special' to have an impact at that point, given the tensions and divisions in the house and how much people already disliked the 'plastics'. Much the same goes for the idea that she "wound so many hm's up without trying". (Not that it actually was without trying.)

Ash is one of the cases where opinions most go beyond what the HM actually did, imo. There was a thread back in 2006 called "These clips highlight why I loved Aisleyne", and it was noted how little Ash appeared in the clips.


Hmm. I don't think she was especially charismatic or fun loving or nice, or that she got on very well with HMs who disliked her. However, the way you phrased that last point is interesting, since it fits even cases where people went from liking her to disliking.

People often find the HMs they like fascinating to watch. Which is fine. But it's something that calls for explanation more than something that explains.
