Hi All,
Recently the DVD part of my ancient combined VCR/DVD player (a Panasonic NV-VP30EB (circa 2000)) gave up the ghost. I was going to buy a very basic DVD player to replace it as I am still using an old CRT TV (a Phillips 24PW6006). However I came across this offer and it looked as if it would permit me to continue enjoying my current DVD collection, whilst enabling me to switch to Blu-ray (or 3D) disks at a later date once I finally get around to updating my TV (when I can afford it).
I made sure that the Panasonic DMP-BDT120 has composite out, and thought that it would then be a simple case of connecting it to either the AV SCART of my Freeview PVR (which was how the old VCR/DVD was connected), or directly to the spare SCART socket on the back of my TV.
However, I've tried both of these using a "Scart to 3RCA Cable", described on the packaging as "Ideal for connecting DVD player, VCR, Hi-Fi and TV" but no signal from the new player is showing on the TV.
The player is showing "Setup" on its front display, which means that it should be displaying a setup screen on the TV but it isn't.
I've checked through the available inputs on the TV: (EXT1 (currently holds the signal from my PVR) > EXT2 (empty) > SVHS2 (empty) > AV (empty) > [old analogue channel] (empty)).
I've checked through the available inputs on the PVR too (when the player is connected directly to it): (AUX > tv(?) > live TV).
I've checked every combination of the above
Sorry for the length of this post (I wanted to give as much info as I could), and the fact that you've probably had to answer ones like it many times before, however, although I've googled I can't find someone with the same problem (it usually seems to be people asking if Scart to HDMI is possible, etc.).
So can you ensure me that Composite to Scart is possible (although obviously not with HD results), and tell me where I may be going wrong in my setup?
Thanks,
Cal.

I didn't realise that there was a difference (I simply assumed that it would work either way).
