Awww no I forgot I often thought of the things I'd love to talk to him about if I ever had more than a few second photo shoot, but when it came to it, all thoughts went out the window, just become a jibbering mess. Concert or meeting ? I thought about the pros & cons of this, but I honestly have to say, if I couldn't get to one of his concerts I'd be truly devasted, where as meeting him was the icing with a million cherries on the top. After all it's all about the music, right ? LOL

I enjoyed reading your post. What a lovely story and wonderful experience you all had (including son getting up at 6 for computer games in the foyee). No doubt he will dine on it, many years later and when you least expect it.”

Ha Ha I know he'll remember that. I'm really strict usually re :- time spent on electricals, he usually only gets about 3 hours a week
So at least he's got that to thank Matt for

Getting ready to leave for London as I'm staying 2 nights there Matt was fab in Coventry, really great dialogue with the crowd and I feel he is at his best acoustically. I preferred him like that to with a band and he did say on stage that doing an unplugged tour was a big hint as to the direction he was now going in

Tam, if you want details of the phone call PM me and I'll respond on Friday eve when I get back from London as I'm going offline now til then, but will be around a little bit on twitter on my phone

Interesting comments WKD and BB, as for me I like both sides of the Matt coin BUT I do lean towards acoustic Matt as I've said before. Who knows what will unfold with this next album but I'm quite chilled that plenty is in that diary . I've stayed away from any utube clips for a few days now as Thursday approaches and look very much forward to seeing all of you again to share a rather special eve with x

First of all let me say it was brilliant to meet some more threadies/twitters, it's great to have some more faces to names. We had hoot queueing with Linsey & Co, they're a hoot. We told them when we arrived into Glasgow we walked past the Raddison Blue Hotel & there was a Gaggle of Girlies hanging around outside so we guessed Matt must be staying there as he was last time, so we scanned the crowd to see if they were there, but they told us they were staying at the ****** Hotel which was OUR hotel, Oh lordy lord ! !

After some time queueing Matt & Will turned up in a taxi stopped right outside the venue where we were queueing, but then drove on a little further down the road got out, although we couldn't quiet decide who actually did get out, anyway they went up a side road which we didn't think led to the venue, so I decided to have a little stroll down towards this road, when I got to the end & looked around the corner they were both coming towards me. I went into a total panic, should I talk to them or not, decided to nonchalantly look into a bag shop I had a quick word with myself, if I didn't talk to them I knew I would regret it for ever. So I said "Hello boys was the backdoor locked " Honestly I always say the most stupidest things in these situations, but I managed to have little chat about the gigs etc. My daughter said she was expecting me to fall over because I was walking sideways talking to him, but I swear I couldn't believe how gorgeous he is close up, he's got the most beautiful blue eyes.

After the best gig ever we got our photos taken, yeah, Will's got to be the most patient photograper ever, thanks Will.

When we got back to our hotel it turned out what we were told was true, Matt & Will were getting out of the taxi in front of us My daughter told me to get a grip of myself , so I tried really really really hard to be cool ( impossible ) I told Will if we knew we they were staying at the same place we could have shared a taxi. While Will was having a word with the reception we had a chat with the gorgeous Matt, told him I loved his new guitars, especially the one he used for the A Winehouse cover, I showed him my "OOOT" t shirt & he told me where it came from & why he says it. I thought I would chance my luck & ask when he was checking out, cos I knew my little lad would love to meet him, but he just said Will was trying to sought it out, but they would be flying by the seat of their pants, so early morning I guessed.

Hope I'm not boring you, I didn't mean to write a novel

As my young son was awake at 6am the next morning What should I do with ? Erm... I could take him down to the lobby so could play on the computers (bad parent) so that's what we did at 6.45,cannot believe I've turned into a stalker ! ! We waited , waited & waited & then 5mins before I was going to give up he appeared, so son ran over and asked if he could have a photo with him & of course Matt being the lovely Matt was happy to please, even though they were in a rush. Bless him looked shattered he said he just gotten up, but of course he still looked yummy.

Actually we had a little giggle watching them, when Will came out of the lift Matt was to slow & lift door closed, he tried to stop it with his hand but the lift still closed & you could just see his little fingers sticking out, when the doors opened again he was picking something up & the lift closed again

Well that's about it, how can I better that, I couldn't even dreamed of such a weekend, I truly think I have peaked in my Cardledom.”

Great report Tam. I can imagine it all happening. At least you had the whole family to aid and abet you. Fantastic that you got to speak to Matt. The lift incident may shed some light on the picture with a bandage on his hand- I saw it yesterday on someone's facebook page-can't remember whose now.

Hi all. Popping in briefly, just back from Manchester a little while ago and haven't had time to put together a report on either the Glasgow or Manchester gig. I thought at Glasgow it was the best I've ever heard him perform. His voice was on top form and his interaction with the audience was great. Loved his little anecdotes. SFTTR live is just stunning!! However after being at last night's gig I have to say that's the best vocal performance I've ever heard. He totally blew me away. All That Matters was truly emotional and had me in tears - you could have heard a pin drop when he sang it. Faithless was oustanding as was Lost & Found. The big surprise of the night was Lately, I think my jaw must have hit the floor when I heard the intro. The arrangement was fantastic and I'd never have believed it would work acoustically if I hadn't heard it with my own ears. He looked totally at ease during the show, so relaxed and you can see (and hear) that he was really enjoying performing. He put his heart and soul into every song. His voice really has gone up another level.

As some of you know, I wasn't keen even on the idea of this tour (almost didn't go) because "one man and a guitar" acoustic stuff isn't really my thing or at least not for more than a few songs. I knew he wouldn't be able to do justice to The Fire acoustically and it would end up as a "cover plus" tour.

I stand by everything I said, partly because I haven't changed my mind and partly because I was right - it was exactly what I expected it to be.

That said though, as far as that one man acoustic thing is concerned, he is truly world class. His voice is sublime and he is so much more relaxed on stage. I think not having a band to bounce off means he's forced to interact with the audience more and it makes for a better stage performance. This is almost the opposite to what you'd expect but perhaps if he has someone to "hide" behind his natural reaction is to do so?

Anyway, other than a small gripe that a couple of more upbeat songs and a couple less tearjerkers would have made for a slightly better balance, he was absolutely outstanding. So much so that I am beginning to wonder if this is a more natural style for him and he should stick with it rather than being a rocker with a band.

My personal preference is always going to be for a band but, whilst I love seeing him in that format, there are other bands I love seeing just as much, whereas in the acoustic format, he's way out ahead of anyone else and perhaps there's something in that for the future.

Letters, SFTTR, Amazing and Anyone Else were particular highlights for me but Lately absolutely stole the show - absolutely fantastic!!”

I'm not going to any shows for pretty much the reasons you gave for nearly not going yourself. I would have gone if there were performances closer to home, but I wasn't prepared to travel far for an acoustic show - I like a few songs but not an hour's worth. I guess like you I am just a fan of bands mainly. That being said, although I haven't gone, I have viewed the Youtubes and had a lot of heart searching about Matt and his musical direction and I have come to virtually the same conclusion as you. I could have written that post myself (except that I haven't been to a show LOL). Matt's voice is absolutely sublime on acoustic sets - I can't think of anyone better. It makes me cross sometimes when the likes of Ben Howard are getting praised all over the place, when his voice isn't in the same league as Matt's imho. Of course he didn't go on XF so the industry musos are allowed to wet themselves over him. I'm not saying Ben Howard isn't good btw - but he isn't as good as Matt.

If you are coming to the Union Chapel tomorrow bring along your camera... we are going to make a live fan footage video for Lost & Found xx

Matt Cardle ‏@matt_cardle_uk 4m
Just film the track from your seat, then upload the video here... and we will do the rest : ) xx https://45sound.com/shows/384

This sounds like a great idea - and no shortage of expert cameramen from the footage I have seen from the other venues - just wondering why L&F in particular.

How can you review a gig, you never went to just by stating it was sold out and the artist had two top ten albums? Weird and lazy journalism from Cambridge. I hope everybody has wonderful memories from this tour and those who are going have a great time tomorrow. Something has come up and I am not going to be able to make it to Union Chapel, but look forward to your stories and videos. Brian Edwards, it is a shame he cannot make the concert and I wish him the best for whatever is happening in his life to stop him from travelling. He has done so much to support and promote Matt over the pond and on twitter.

I reckon it's one of the few of "his" songs on the setlist that doesn't have an official video of some kind already - love the idea!

Oooops, the Cambridge Review is not a review as the gig is tonight. Even weirder for the journalist(?) to post the article.

It will be nice to see the montage on You Tube, plus an opportunity to show those interested, but have not seen him perform, what his live performances are like. Have fun at the show and I look forward to seeing what you all achieve.

That's a shame AMS but at least there are plenty of great vids doing the rounds Haven't seen the review you refer too - how odd indeed as the gig hasn't occurred as yet :S

As for the recording request, a nice idea indeed - I did think ahhh Lately, as everyone seems so blown away by it but maybe he just wants to leave that one alone now, at least it confirms lost n found will make an appearance

I lurk, but do not use Twitter. Will tweeted the journalist/blogger about her post in Cambridge What Is On (or similar) and I trotted off to have a nose.

Rather strange as she was going off on one owing to why the show be sold out. She then acknowledged the Letters reaching Number 2 album and The Fire, but she assumed it was out of the Syco stable. Ignoring the fact it was Number 1 in the Indies Chart and came in at Number 8 - so no substance and just her opinion.

It was after reading the article and assuming it was a review of the show, (despite the fact that the gig is tonight and I had not twigged that perhaps this was not a psychic reading). If the review had been negative and the person had attended the performance, than I would have no problems. We all have different tastes. It just seems so strange to have an article based on the views of one person who has no knowledge of the subject, then that is just so weird. There again perhaps any publicity is good and she did state his tour was sold out.

Have a fantastic time tomorrow.
