Former Destiny's Child star Kelly Rowland is set to join Simon Cowell on the X Factor USA - despite being booted off the UK show.

Cowell, 53, remains a 'big fan' of the singer even though she was replaced by Nicole Scherzinger on the X Factor UK last year, a source told MailOnline.

And Kelly, 32, is now 'most definitely in the mix' to replace Britney Spears on the third season of the Fox talent show, which airs later this year.

It's not yet known whether Cowell will appear with three women on the judging panel - or hire another man to replace L.A. Reid.

YAY Kelly.

I would love this to be true I think she was a brilliant Judge on X Factor UK she was funny but she always gave constructive critism and it was obvious she knew what she was talking about. I think American's will get her humour than us Brits as well.

Nicole was awful on the US version, but she turned out brilliant on the UK version. The same could be true for Kelly, plus I think she suits the US better.

Everyone seems to forget how amazing Kelly was during the auditions. This video shows it, especially from 6:58: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i9RxMJqpMXI

It only fell apart for Kelly during the live shows, she obviously was homesick. Who can blame her? Sitting next to Tulisa? NO THANKS! Also Louis & Tulisa basically ruining Misha B's chances was bound to annoy her.

I think she would be PERFECT for the US show.

In spite of what I said about her a couple of years ago I think she'll be a good fit on the US show.

Kelly was just larger than life. She was brilliant at first and I loved her chemistry with Gary but it all went a bit pear shaped during the live shows. But to be honest she should have been on the American show from day 1, and we should've had Nicole because they'd both be better suited that way round. It was a huge cock up for it to be the way it was especially after how popular Nicole was after her 2010 stint in the UK. They could have bridged the change in line up much easier.

I wonder where this now leaves Cheryl?

Kelly would be great. In fact, Kelly was the best judge ever on the XF UK. Whether you liked her judging style or not, you cannot deny she had some of the funniest one-liners ever. She was great. She was hilarious and fiesty. It is exactly the kind of energy the XF USA version needs. Most importantly, she's not cringing for some reason whenever she makes a joke like Nicole can sometimes be (admittedly) and like Britney and Demi (most importantly - her fights with Simon were so cringe).

I'm really happy about this, I loved Kelly, I think Demi/Kelly could make a pretty interesting duo on the show.

I didn't mind Kelly on the XF UK but I prefer Nicole. I do think Kelly will be received better on the US version though.

I didn't mind Kelly during the live shows at all, I think she was rather disillusioned by the whole baying mob culture that the show had created with Tulisa and Louis' handling of the Misha B issue and things went downhill from there. I thought she was a far better judge than any of her fellow judges though, yes she was a bit kooky but she knew her stuff whereas the others would occasionally utter phrases from the Dummy's Guide to Music 'falsetto', 'emotional connection', 'upbeat'. I think she'll fit in well on the US version.

I'm so happy my favorite judge is returning! I just hope this source is legit - I mean as trashy as the DM can be, it's still a fairly reliable source of the information (at least compared to The Mirror and The Sun). So let's pray that it is! This would definitely make me watch every episode of XF US.

I loved Kelly as a judge and think she probably would be better suited to the American panel.

Probably where she always was, suing the production company. As much as I would have liked Cheryl to have been rejoining the show, the lawsuit means it isn't going to happen.

She was brilliant on The X Factor. Whoever thought of getting rid of her and keeping Tulisa last series needs their heads testing.

Admittedly things went a bit pear-shaped during the live shows but I don't think that was entirely her fault.
