Hey

The Samsung Galaxy S4 world tour is in London tonight, they are saying it will be available in shops from 10am on the 27th April.

apparently the Three network offer deal ends on the 25th or something like that, I'm a bit tempted to get it, but it seems crazy to commit to such an expensive investment without even getting to try the handset in store

Just try out the S3 as it's basically the same phone with a couple of added features it's not a dramatic change in any sense of the word it even looks the same just a bit bigger.

That sounds all wrong.
There's no way it would go on sale at 10am when most shops open at 9, there'd be no way for Samsung to enforce that (not that there's any reason why they'd want to either).

This is what was said at the S4 world tour, which was in London last night.

Not doubting you but I extremely doubt shops are going to follow that there is no way Samsung would know anyway.

I think I'll skip this step and wait for the S5, or maybe get the next Note. It just doesn't seem a big enough step up from the S3 in all the tests I've seen for it to be worth it.

My friend called it the S3S couple of days back as he said they were copying Apple's approach by doing a bit between phones but at least Apple call it an S instead of a new model.

to be honest android phones have sort of reached their peak, theres not much more for them to do, they are already so fast etc.

The key improvement will be gaming. When you have the power of an xbox 360 in your phone that you can hook up to your tv will be great, I reckon it will kill consoles. But this will be another 3 years I think.

I think you could by the same logic call the S3 the S2s.

it's evolution not revolution.

and the iPhone 5 could be the 3GSSSS

Perhaps so but I think the HTC One is a Revolutionary phone or at least parts of it.

I think if I had the S2 then it would be a very nice jump up to the S4 but there are not enough features that I want on the S4 to the S3 so not too bothered about upgrading.

The screen does look nice though.

I must admit that I don't think it's really worth upgrading any phone nowadays more than every 2 years as there is not too much of a leap in technology (and havent done so for my last few phones).

You mean smaller of course. They've squeezed a bigger screen onto the S4 but made the handset smaller than the S3 (136.6 x 70.6 x 8.6 mm for the S3 and 136.6 x 69.8 x 7.9 mm for the S4).

Sorry I meant a bit bigger screen and honestly unless some uses a type measure they not going notice a lot of difference in the size of the handset either.

But then when you are able to have the power of a Xbox 360 in your phone (which will be longer than three years in my opinion) then the next Xbox will be the next big thing, so you will always be playing catch up.

You must be seriously having a laugh if you think phone gaming is going to kill consoles.

Im not, Tegra 5 - released next year - is said to have the power of the Xbox 360.

The Saturday part I can believe, just not the 10am element.
As I said before, Samsung can't control the time of day a shop opens and/or sells their phones.

That's the real killer isn't it. No one knows, not even Samsung since they can't be bothered to communicate. For personal reasons not everyone wants the 16GB S4 so that's very annoying indeed! Phone is released end of next week and still no news on the other variants of the S4.

Does it really matter about the 32/64gb versions? Amazon were selling a Samsung 32gb class 6 Micro SD card the other day for £14.

Is said to have and has are two different things. And even so, that's next year. Next year the PS4 and the next Xbox are out, so it's never going to kill gaming is it.

The S2 has just got Jelly Bean so has a new lease of life. Still not worth upgrading for most users.........Unless you are going to really make use of all the features....

Not for unlocked/unbranded phones it hasn't, still waiting here.

But that could be said for anyone phone, many S2 users will be coming to the end of the their contracts as I am, so it would be pointless not upgrading really.
