Thinking about buying one but if I don't have any great uses for it beyond a few days I won't get it.

So for those who have one or know someone who has one is it worth it and what are all it's features and what u can get out of it?

I have jailbroken and installed XBMC http://xbmc.org/about/on mine which gives you a few more options but tbh ATV straight out of the box does not offer much for me.

If you don't have a PS3 or Xbox and can't get Netflix on to your TV by other means, then yes it is good. If you have an other Apple products (computer, iPad) then it's better. If you don't have any Apple products and can get Netflix by other means, then I wouldn't bother.

I used to use a PS3 for Netflix, but went to to ATV 3 because it costs less to run, it's quieter and I have an iMac, iPad so it made sense for me.

On a side note, be aware the AV3 cannot be jailbroken, the other versions can, but don't have DD out, and only display 720.

An important thing to consider Apple TV allows you to

Stream bought content from your iTunes account e.g films
With ITunes Match you can play your music collection to the TV
Air play allows you to play content from your IPad
Rent films to watch
Sync your iMac through home sharing

In my humble opinion if iTunes is not the centre of your media bought world, I would not buy a Apple TV!
