I know there is only a one day difference in air times between UK and US, but I'm sure there are people who want to post about it straight away.

What are your thoughts about the show so far?

I really enjoyed the first two episodes and am really looking forward to more. I'm hoping to see more of the Volge because of how awesome they looked.

They didn't explain much backstory within regards to what happened to Earth, but the Wikipedia page has a good amount of information on it, so if you're looking to find out the details just head on over. Wikipedia
They may reveal more on the show at some point so read the page at your own discretion.

Premiere was really good. Really enjoyed the characters introductions and the story seems like it'll be interesting. Can't wait for the next episode!

I was thinking the same thing, a lot of American SyFi seems to end up just being another space cowboys and aliens show.

True. It does have a Firefly feel to it I thought. It felt very much like Serenity.

A pretty solid episode with some nice build towards Irisa's story. I wonder if there will be any backlash from the body dump at the end.

Not a bad episode, I'm happy to stick with it as its already showed its going to be a better show than TN and right now I'll take any sci-fi show. I'm not very keen on the mayor, also I'd like to see more of the back story about when the aliens actually arrived.

The cgi seemed better this week.

LOL Showed it is better than Terra Nova?

So far it has been only that bit better than TN. It is still too formulaic and the stories are too pedestrian.

LOL yeh. Terra Nova was awful for 90% of the time, if it wasn't for the last episode I'd say it was just a total mess.
I've watched pretty much every sci-fi I can get my hands on and can safely say the two most boring aspects of any sci-fi show are the stones on SGU and that awful..boring..mind numbing family that TN was centered round.

TN was quite possibly the most pedestrian sci-fi show going.. even worse than Caprica, at least with Defiance we have action and interesting characters.

I do agree plot-lines need beefing up but having played the game I can see where the story is most likely going to go and it should be fun.

Not the show i was expecting from the title i must not have read the bio or so long ago i forgot, I agree it has a bit of a Firefly feel i just hope it keeps my interest.

The music they are using keeps reminding me off another show, Caprica maybe.

I hope you are right and that it will go along the lines of the game.

I'm just disappointed when such a good premise is misused by TV just to produce a cheesy TV Show, rather than something deep the premise could become.

This could become the new Babylon 5.

I thought this week's episode was a bit weak, it did have its merits though. It just had the feeling of the same old generic rehashed sci-fi story that TN used frequently.

I didn't dislike it, I like Irisa and it was nice to see her bonding with other Irathient's. I presume most of season one will be to do with her learning who she is & discovering her past.

It really does have a TerraNova feel to it now, I think the show needs better direction & more grittiness. I'm hoping we see an improvement once we are done with the character development episodes.

It definitely looks like it could go the Babylon 5 route, I'm hoping it doesn't as I never really could get into that past season 2.
The learning of new abilities/skills such as in this episode may be something we see quite often as we learn about the different races.... but that's deviating from the game somewhat.
I am disappointed about the technology aspect so far (bar the end of the pilot) as that's Defiances main selling point when it comes to making the game fun. I suspect budget may cause problems trying to implement that in the TV show.... then again the cgi has been mostly poor/lower budget than I was expecting.

I don't think they have elaborated on the seasons main plot much yet, so I am still retaining hope.

Well, we finally got more development of a few characters. It was interesting watching Datak give Nolan a lesson about listening to people and a shame Will from Sanctuary was killed off so quick. I'm hoping we get to see more Biomen or that Ulysses at least survived.

Four episodes in, and I'm starting to lose interest. The first (double) episode was great, the next batch (#2 - #4) have been slow, not all that interesting and seem to focus too much on character development. Episode #5 (from the preview) doesn't look all that exciting either.

Both Terra Nova and Stargate Universe suffered ratings because of this, and I fear if Defiance doesn't pick up the pace, then that too will find itself cancelled. The only saving grace with this TV show is that it's got an MMO alongside it.

I loved episode 4. Wasn't keen on 3 but 4 was all about what I like in the show, which is the scheming and the politics. That last line from Stahma was just beautiful.

Terra Nova was drivel, that's why it was cancelled.

I agree, TN was just too nice and the most the characters where just so unlikeable.
Episode 4 was much better, I presume we are now past the getting to know the characters phase and now can concentrate on the main seasons plot.
Only gripe I have is the game is very much centered around Arkfalls and technology which we havn't really seen much of yet (bar the pilot).

Really bad episode this week imo, more learning about characters isn't really needed. The other part of the episode was both boring & predictable.
I predict another ratings plummet... looking at the numbers I'm not sure how much more it can take.

It really does feel like a cop show with a different case/crime for them to solve each week, you would of thought paid sci-fi writers would have learnt a lesson from the monstrosity that was Tera Nova.

Pretty much how I feel. I think I'm only watching now because there is so little Si/Fi on TV.

I'm still unimpressed with this show so far. It's blatantly going to be Terra Nova Version 2.0. It'll get really good toward the end, but by then there wont be enough viewers to warrant the show continuing.

Since season two has already been ordered, it is going to be "continuing."

Then they'll do a Stargate Universe on us. Season 2 will commence, but they'll have lost a good portion of their fans from the flop that is season 1, and then season 2 wont get the viewers / ratings that'll be desired and thus there wont be a season 3.

I am kind of enjoying it but I think they have to draw the line with this character development episodes. They have a great platform but atm it has very little sci-fi which is totally different to the game.
We need more Arkfalls, better technology instead of cars/trucks that would look poor on a mad max set. We need to see more of the alien teraforming and creatures.

Atm we have a town that looks like a poor attempt to what we have seen on Firefly, we have 3 cops that investigate a different crime each week.. with a blatantly obvious outcome usually by half way through an episode.

We have the usual extra's that join the show at the beginning of an episode & are the usual victims, its just like the original star trek when you knew the guy in the red ensign uniform that accompanies the usual characters on an away mission are obviously going to die.

Its all too obvious, its rehashed sci-fi stories that are used over & over again.

As for the seasons main plot... I think we have seen maybe 10 minutes of it? we are almost half way through the first season... and we are still having character development episodes that could easily be deemed Filler episodes.

Its no suprise by looking at the game forums (all formats) the main feeling is disappointment when asked if they enjoy the Tv show too. Viewing figures back that up.

Well that's me out. Couldn't make it through the whole episode. Got up to where the truck was hijacked.

Will probably download it just too keep up with Julie Benz but even she was under utilised in this show.

It is sheep in wolfs clothing, pretending to be a Sci fi show, just because of the FX, when really it is just a poor crime show.

The Emperor is naked.

Seems to be yet another Western set in the future, this week it was the stage coach robbery.
