I think this is a little too harsh and I get the feeling she gave already a bad review before even listening to it. Mentioning Buble is completely pointless as Walsh was saying that before Shane was even recording - we only later found out his sound would be folky/country and Walsh never mentioned Buble again.

Also, you can see she didn't do any research as she never mentioned he co-wrote the album, she made it look like everything was written for him.

I'm not saying his album is outstanding or that it is the best album f 2013, but I would still describe it as a good debut effort.

I always look at the album differently when it is written by the artist, that means it is personal and that a lot of effort was put out in it. So even if it isn't anything groundbreaking, at least these are Shane's songs that mean a lot to him which I respect.”

I saw this review, I found it to be very harsh and got the same feeling that she had decided to give a bad review from the beginning.

I personally love the album, and think it is different to a lot of music at the moment.

I think it is rare for an album to be groundbreaking and thus the reviewer shouldn't be so critical. I was surprised to read such a harsh review as feedback seemed to be good so far. This review was more complementary:

Nice to read this, thanks - we should post more of them when we find them Like you said, it is strange to read such a bad one when there was so much positive feedback before.

Also, she is wrong in saying this is only for Westlife fans - Shane truly went away from the Westlife sound, the only song that reminds me of WL is Coming Home, besides the Today's Not Yesterday from Deluxe edition. The point of this album IS that wider audience could love it.

I was surprised to read that comment to, as someone who listens to Westlife constantly Shane's album is very different to Westlife.

Saw these pictures for Shane's trip to Singapore, https://www.facebook.com/universalmu...51951965363118
They seem to be promoting him well there. I have a feeling Shane will probably to best in Asia

the bad review was so biased! for sure he never heard the album first!

very very outdated basis of opinions!

Here is a goo article about Shane:

http://www.irishmirror.ie/whats-on/m...-fears-2667130

No doubt he is scared and nervous, I really hope he does make it to Top 10... This shouldn't be impossible as he still has Westlife fans supporting him AND the album sales are very low this year.

Here is Shane on Late Late Show:

I hate the fact that he talked about the bankruptcy for 10 minutes and just 2 minutes about the album. I know that this is interesting to journalists, but wasn't this about the album promo? They ask him the same questions over and over again, I'm sure he is sick of that, just as I am. His album is out, ask him about that

I'm also sick of hearing the same questions asked over and over, he barely gets to talk about the album

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JecSvPzOsdY Shane on Xpose. I love the way Louis talks about Shane, he has so much faith in him.

Apparently Shane sold 650 albums on QVC, not sure if that is good in terms of what they usually sell, but sure that will help the charts. I think I heard that to get number 10 album at the moment you only need to sell 8,000 copies, not sure if that's true but hope so.

Another review I find very stupid:

http://www.hitthefloor.com/music/rev...ne-filan-album

Shane sounds like Harry Styles, are you kidding me, is she deaf? And Everytime is not a song 1D would do.

And again, Baby Let's Dance is similar to Uptown Girl, really? This women needs to check her hearing

Argh I was really expecting good reviews for the album, its a shame. But I agree Shane sounds nothing like Harry Styles! I only know One Directions singles but going from that Everytime is nothing like there music.

I don't get a lot of her comparisons tbh.

here's another review, not too bad

I like this review, I feel like this as well - it is nothing remarkable, but it is a solid pop album that you could listen over and over. I am sure he will grow as an artist with the future albums.

However, I don't agree Baby Let's Dance is a dud - it is one of my favorite songs, sure, the lyrics are maybe cheesy but the song is very catchy and has a great melody. Besides, at least it is not a cheesy love song, it is about enjoying the life and love.

I love Baby Let's Dance so disagree on that part of the review. It's a good review, and I agree with the end bit that I really hope he gets to make a second album.
His sound is for me the perfect mix of pop and country so i really hope he gets to make more music

Yeah it's about 2500 for #40
5000 #20
8200 #10

Hopefully he'll have enough for a top 10! I am really worried though!

I'm terrified, but I'm hoping he sold quite a few through his store. The album has been advertised on TV so that may help. It's now in the top 100 on Amazon

hope he enters TOP 10!!

need a hit tv show promotion!!!!

i am worried too... and very very disappointed to pointless review!

I'm afraid Shane won't get the appearances hit tv shows, if that was possible, I'm sure Capitol Records would have made it happen. People expect that he will have it easier since he was in Westlife, but it is actually much harder as he is starting from a scratch.

Anyway, here is 1 great review:

very very good review...

upon checking in itunes, you and me is #30 in UK and #6 in ireland... i hope it performs better on these coming days, i always believe itunes chart position reflects the actual position in the official charts, AM I CORRECT with that?
siriusrose
04-11-2013
You're correct when it comes to the singles chart but iTunes isn't that reflective of the album chart as people still prefer a physical copy. Amazon and the supermarkets are going to be the best indication I suspect. The higher he is on all platforms the better though!

He is #14 in the UK now, that is great, I think...

yeah, i saw it...hoping that it continues to climb up in the itunes chart.. and really hoping for that 8000 + copies for top 10 slot..

if he cant make it on hit tv shows... i think the fans should continue helping make it known through the social media... like what shane is saying on his latest post on facebook.. "spread the word"

Great to see a good review. Also nice to see it acknowledging the difference from Westlife, most reviews suggest he hasn't strayed from Westlife which I completely disagree with.

i am loving IN THE END!

for the third single i think this could be a great pick, along with knee deep in my heart.. i hope someone from shane filan's team tries to search for people's feedback on what song is in demand and potential hit...

i believe in the end and knee deep in my heart could top the poll

Another bad review, but again it is very obvious that he hates Westlife:

http://uk.omg.yahoo.com/news/shane-f...211800943.html

I mean, why even give snide comments like " considering pop's most famous stool-sitters stopped being relevant around a decade ago" and "lack of karaoke cover versions and 'stand up for the key change" when this is about Shane?

Although we are all very well aware that Westlife lost their popularity over the years which is perfectly normal, to say they stopped being relevant 10 years ago when they were still in their heydays, is just downright ridiculous.

And saying "Filan's recent U-Turn has been influenced by financial reasons rather than artistic ones" is just stupid - of course he changed his sound, it would be crazy if he went with Westlife route, this has nothing to do with his bankruptcy

I respect that he doesn't like the album, but those particular comments are not necessary.

I'm noticing that a lot of the bad reviews seem to have a dislike for Westlife. I know from experience when you go in expecting to dislike an album you are much more likely to find faults. The same reviewer insulted Westlife in Union J album review so clearly is not a fan

Shane's Deluxe CD is out of stock on Sainsbury's website, that's a good sign
