Yey for #3 in Ireland, that's a great start! 'About You' did actually chart which is nice, it got to #60 and 'Everything To Me' re-entered at #77.

Shocked he's still #5 in the UK mids, that's great! The Overtones must be so close though, but fingers crossed he can hold on. Sounds like he'll be on pretty decent sales now for this climate which is good. Hopefully his Asian trip goes well again and he can get the album charting highly over there too. Fingers crossed You & me can hold up in the UK charts until he comes home and can properly promote it again.

Sales are added:

5 Shane Filan - You And Me * (14,9k)

Shane we don't know the sales of The Overtones so we could see the gap.

Shane tweeted this:

My Debut Album is No6 in UK chart !!! Thankyou u all so much guys !!
Celebrating in Singapore !!!!!

This is amazing result for him, especially considering how big competition was and how very little he promoted it without appearing on important shows.

Here is another decent review:

http://www.sosogay.co.uk/2013/album-...an-you-and-me/

http://www.virginmedia.com/music/rev...you-and-me.php

I found this hilarious - while it's occasionally tempting to suggest that the lovestruck pair get a room - good one!

It is also even a greater achievement when you think that The Wanted are at no. 9 and they had massive promo everywhere, even on The X Factor, not to mention they released 5 singles before the album.

Exactly I was thinking this, it shows how well he did, i think would have been top 5 if he released it last week. Also hoping a good chart position will help with TV shows he can get on in the future.

About You charted at 54 but considering I don't think Shane even tweeted it was out and it wasn't pushed at all I think that is fine.
I'm hoping this position is good enough for a second album

I am pretty sure All you Need To Know will be the 3rd single since this song means so much to him.

I wrote the same thing about Wanted on Haven and the guy replied this happened to Shane because of the massive fanbase he has from Westlife - He is sure had he not been a member of Westlife it would not have debuted anywhere near as high as The Wanted.

I told him this and I truly believe that - You may be right but you simply can't know for sure. Who knows how he would have been received as an artist without the Westlife history because this also harms him in a way - many people judge his music before listening to his material.

Seriously, who knows? Maybe the audience would lved him even more.

Shane has said All You Need to Know will be his 3rd single released after Christmas

I think being from Westlife helped to an extent as he has the core fanbase, however that didn't get him the big TV shows. And plus so many boyband members have tried solo careers and not succeeded, Take That have been massive in the last few years but Mark Owen still didn't have success with his solo career.
Plus Westlife weren't as big by the time they broke up so its not like with Robbie when he went solo.
I also agree that some people will be put off by his music because he was in Westlife so it has its disadvantages

Here are the sales:

5 The Overtones 19,198
6 Shane Filan 18,451

VERY close to no. 5...

Also, an interesting report on Haven:

Had Shane Filan debuted at number one this week he, and not Eminem, would have had more number one albums in the 21st century than any other act but the 34 year old former Westlife star has to settle for a number six entry (18,451 sales) for his solo debut set, You & Me. Filan's debut solo single, Everything To Me, and follow-up About You - which debuts this week at number 54 (4,599 sales) - are both on the album.

That would have been cool but this is also great. Besides, had he released it in July, he would have been no.1 as I remember Thicke went to no.1 with only 20K sold.

Shane was at the show Never Mind the Buzzcocks, it was hilarious:

It was so funny when he described the time he met Paul McCartney

Drops to 28 in today's midweeks! Ouch! watch Louis run for cover, he only likes to be associated with success He has had a worse start than Brian McFadden

This isn't a shock at all as he didn't have a huge promo in the UK, i actually think he had a bigger one in Asia. Also, media doesn't talk about his album, there is no hype so why suspect any different result.

By the way, you are wrong about him having a worse start than Brian - he debuted at no. 23!

And don't forget it was A LOT easier for him to have success since he started a solo career while Westlife were still huge. I never heard of anyone having very successful solo career after being 14 years in a boyband - this is a totally different game for Shane, a lot harder.

Brian started solo at a perfect time, just like Ronan and Justin did - and yet, his career flopped hard in the end because of the media backslash due to a nasty divorce.

Not a good position. but that doesn't reflect the total amount of albums actually sold to reach that position. The album itself sold almost 1million world wide. Will be interesting to see if Shane's gets anywhere near that figure. I suspect that Louis' claim that Shane will be the biggest solo star to come out of Ireland is a little way off target

I feel a Westlife reunion won't be too long away

Well how many copies has Brian sold in the UK on the first week? There is no info on the internet.

But look at album sales this year, apart from Eminem, it was pretty dreadful so far. Besides, look at Brian now - his latest single hasn't even reached Top 100! I know that the reason behind that is that UK public despises him, but still... Shane is doing A LOT better than Brian right now. Don't get me wrong, I love Brian, his new single is great, but no reason to be very critical of Shane, you have to look at all the factors, how he is starting out.

Besides that, nobody knows how many copies will Shane sell worldwide - he is doing very well in Asia and he is planning to promote the album for the next 18 months, even planning to try cracking America.

Again, don't forget Brian had it easier when he started his career - it is not really fair to compare Shane and him.

Anyway, i have a feeling you don't like Shane very much judging by your last comments despite your wink smilies. Louis has to hype Shane when nobody else does, that is his job.

And honestly, reunion will happen if the all 4 boys agree to it, Mark is also going solo very soon so who knows. They were pretty clear they are not thinking of reuniting but never say never - IF it happens, it certainly won't be soon.

What is this chart??? Can we actually have a link to this album chart Its not listed on the "Charts around the World" is this a Louis special - or an instore or online shop chart? I just can't find that his album is number one in Singapore - even if you search "Amped chart" nothing comes up anywhere

Yes, you truly don't like him, do you? So he lied about this? Why on earth would Louis or Shane lie? It is Singapore, you can find an official chart on the internet. Charting in Asia in general is hard to track.

You obviously don't like him and you like to put down his sucess... have you even listened to the album, what are your thoughts? Because that is the name of the thread.
