All the products we sell are brand new, in sealed boxes, and come with a full manufacturer warranty; unless clearly stated otherwise. Nice in theory, but it's common knowledge within the trade that this has happened, and I'm sure you are fully aware of it (and wouldn't admit it).
Perhaps it's by accident?, or the actions of individual store managers?, but I've personally seen four incidents over your 30 years of trading. This would obviously be the tip of the iceberg, as it would be pretty unusual for customers to bring it to my attention, and ask for my professional opinion (which all four cases did). Two of the cases were actually packed in non-original boxes, so were exceptionally obvious.
I would be remiss though without warning of the possibility, not just at RS, but anywhere - and it's a good idea to inspect the packaging which is generally pretty obvious if it's not got the original sealing.
I've no problems with Richer, and I would buy there if they had something I wanted, and the price was right (which it usually is). My younger brother has actually spent vast sums in RS over the years, no idea if he bought graded or new as he's too far away.
