I love rap music. When Eminem first hit the scene i was like "this dude is talking directly to me"

Since then (a 12 YO kid) i've been hooked on rap music. Tupac, Biggie, Em, DMX, TQ, Snoop Dogg, Dr.Dre, MGK.... I could go on forever.

Anyway this a thread for people who like/love rap/hip hop music (as quite a few don't)

Any hidden rap gems? Post here, Your favs - Post here!

A few of my favourites -

Just wondering, what is your opinion on female rappers such as Foxy Brown, Angel Haze and Nicki Minaj (Mixtape Nicki at least!). The three I mentioned are the only female MC's I particularly like but a lot of people seem to be VERY put off when it's a women spitting. By the way, check out Kalli Kal...

Foxy goes hard (sexier version of Lil Kim imo) I also love Foxy's reggae feel to a few of her songs. Lil Kim is alot about sex in her music imo.

Nicki Minaj is a great female rapper, but she is becoming too commercial. She steal's this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jgEjy_JWZys

Angel is 'with' the male 'raw' style. Shes good.

Jean Grey is the best female rapper. She's all about lyrics and not in-your-face sex. Check her out

Im with you, not so keen on the newer stuff but old school rap, hip hop and r'n'b is the best.

This should be the shortest thread ever as IMO there's nothing to appreciate in the over blown over rated self indulgent shite that's rap and hip hop.

'Juicy' and 'Changes' are rap classics. I also loved the Talib Kweli track you posted.

Yep, I'll go along with that. Rap is a refuge for those devoid of any musical ability whatsoever.

Rap and hip hop doesn't even deserve to be mentioned on a music forum.

Complete and utter shite.

What a ridiculous thing to say lol.

I will however agree with you somewhat, nowadays 50% of rap music is shite imo.

Personally i'm more a fan of 'rap poets' - Rappers who tell a story through the words in a song.

Nas - Tupac - Eminem - Biggie Smalls - DMX - Game. And so so many more. The reason alot of people like rap music is the fact they can relate to certain lyrics. A sense of 'yes been there' or yup 'going through that right now'

Give me 'real' rap over Xfactor shite anyday.

If you don't like rap, well fellas, this is the wrong thread for you. The clues in the tittle

Really don't get why people would bother coming into this thread just to post that...Does anyone who watches 106 & Park on BET find it a bit annoying that they show it a week later? They air it at 6 and then again at 11PM which is when it airs in the US so why not just show it live at that time?!

I prefer less the sort of 'angry' rap, and more the kind of softer or mellow rap. This is why I couldn't really get into most Tupac, DMX etc. I loved the rap that I could either dance to or chill out to. What's happened to rap these days anyway? Why's it all gone rubbish, with the likes of er, Flo Rida (cringe) and god knows what other idiots...or maybe I'm just stuck in the past. Anyway here are some of my faves (quite a girly selection apart from Cypress Hill):
