Anyone remember Entermann's Cakes?

Anyone remember these, going back a few years now, I think they were sold in ASDA (maybe some others).

Usually in a plain white box with a window on the lid. Expensive IIRC but nice.

I do. Wonder what happened to them?

I remember these, they were lovely, but pricey. I remember hearing that the company that used to license them for production and sale in the UK went bankrupt so they disappeared from shelves.

They are still available in the US though, so I get them when I'm there, maybe another company will pick up the license for the UK, but I doubt it as the bakery market here is quite crowded.

The US company is owned by Grupo Bimbo now.

Shame really they were tasty (but probably unhealthy!)

I loved the carrot cake. Didn't realise they'd been discontinued in the UK.

They weren't dry though. They were lovely but a bit expensive.

That's a blast from the past! They were quite nice, especially the carrot cake and the choc fudge.

Yes! I seem to remember every now and then we used to get a cake that was very similar to an apple strudel, and it was divine hot with custard! We got ours in Sainsbury's.

The choc fudge was lovely but so sickly! And we never managed to eat the whole thing before it went stale.

I remember that apple strudel one. Probably their best one.

Vaguely - the name rings a bell.

Talking of remembering cakes - 'Kunzel showboats' anyone?
A real treat when I was young - the cases were made of chocolate.

Made by Hibernia Brands in Bristol (a subsidiary of Hibernia Foods, who also owned Hibernia Bakeries, the company that produced Sara Lee frozen desserts) - went bust in 2003.
