Hey guys, been working my way through the season (I know who is still around though) and just watched the Tom/Liza double eviction. Something really confused me though and I was wondering if anyone could clear it up.

I obviously got why Tom ended up really unpopular, but how did Liza suddenly become so hated in the house? She seemed well liked at first, but after she got close with Tom, it seemed like everyone suddenly hated her, maybe even more than they hated him. I know that Emmett and Alec felt that she was a risk to the guys alliance, and obviously when you shack up with someone unpopular, that rubs off on you, but it still didn't really explain why everyone hated her. Topaz for example was pretty scathing in her goodbye message, but I don't recall ever seeing anything come up between the two before then.

in the case with topaz it got back to her (through peter of all people i think?) that she was talking about how she would punch topaz before she went out.

she called topaz alot of bad names like the c word, she referred to her as a hoodrat (which is an american term for girls who come from poor neighborhoods and act without class generally sleeping around, etc)

there was eventually a huge blowup that was never shown on the live feeds after the shower incident that topaz went off on liza and called her out on everything and straight up called her all kinds of stuff.

it was heated between the two of them.

for the rest, it got back to alec/emmett she was going after the couples (emm/jill and alec/topaz) and they were in a strong position of power and slowly started to plant seeds/turn people against her.

once she started to become a common target people started to discuss her more and figure out some of the lies she told and the multiple alliances she was making with people.

i believe she might have accused jillian of being homophobic and andrew an alcoholic as well.

or at least it was spread around that she did.

so, basically when she became a topic of conversation as a potential target openly alot of stuff would come out about her and the house would bond over creating her as the target because that meant it kept them safe.

alot of it was alec/emmett over a period of time, slowly planting the seeds and bringing into the topic of conversations and then getting people they had with them on board with it.
for example tom/liza were absolutely raging about topaz because the heat was on her but it was actually mainly emmett/alec behind the scenes causing things that tom was unaware of.

yes, she played such a horrible and bad game and made an F2 deal with everyone in the first week. Told almost everyone that she wants Alec and Emmett out.

They all planned an F9 in the beginning so that they had Jury members they liked. Liza always said she wants it to be the pretty and smart ppl like her because pretty ppl are better for TV. That she always helps the underdog because these ppl looking up to her and she loves that. She always talked shit like that.

She also told everyone she slept with a lot of celebritys and wants to write a book about it. I have no words for that ...

The first 2 episodes i thougt she is really interesting before i watched the feeds and realized that she is full of shit. I never saw anyone as arrogant and delusional as her.

Oh wow, that all really surprises me. It was pretty obvious from the show that she was making some terrible moves, but I didn't realise just how bad she was! I actually thought she seemed pleasant enough on the show. Guess she's a good example a housemate who you need the feeds to see the full story on. (Like the "sweet and cuddly" Jerry)

Also Liza was trying to pit Andrew against Emmett. Telling both the other was coming after the other.

She also lied quite a lot about Andrew, saying things like he was recovering alcoholic to Emmett. Emmett suspected they wouldn't be things you'd say whilst on national TV. So Emmett pulled aside Andrew and told him what she'd be saying, and she got found out.

i still believe she was one of the better gameplayers in there, yeah she got exposed and made a mistake in overplaying going after the couples so early but she was fun to watch.
alot of people early on had her #1 on their power rankings of who was the best player for each week.

she was basically alone in there for the most part, she had good ideas but noone was willing to go along with her, she was right that the couples were the most dangerous and people probably should've thought about getting them out.

she was also right that the girls should've stuck together.

i would've loved to see her with alec/topaz/peter instead of alec/peter going with the quattro bros.

it was basically her vs a large power core similar to how annie was vs the brigade.

so, yeah while she wasn't the best person i did think she was a good gamer and fun to watch.

Hey everyone, I finally caught up on this season and though it runs the risk of hijacking Redmond's thread, these are some of my thoughts! First and foremost, I've really enjoyed this season! I think the casting has been really great - the houseguests all brought something to the table, everyone had something going for them and I don't think anyone in the cast was massively hateable (well except for Tom really, but he didn't last and wasn't really that evil, just a cocky jerk!)

Early on, I was really pulling for Alec and Peter to do well, but it became clear over time that both of them were vastly overrating their game abilities and by the time they both left, I was quite happy to see them go. I feel like early on the pair had the right idea, but they tried to keep playing under the radar for far to long and it just allowed Emmett and Jillian to get to the point where they were essentially unstoppable. It did make me laugh when Peter said he thought he had played a perfect game, because trying to stay under the radar for a long time while maintaining good relationships with others, and then getting booted when the power players take over and your no use to them isn't really a perfect game. He just ended up being a more self-aware version of someone like Jenn from last season really..

Of the remaining houseguests, I generally like the final five, though I totally think it was unfair that Gary was allowed back at this late stage. To be honest, I never really liked Gary that much in the first place - he was a fun addition and for the first few weeks made for a great wildcard contestant, but I got the impression that behind the glitter and showmanship he doesn't seem all that nice really. Even though I get why people wouldn't like her, I actually have quite a soft spot for Talla and find her to be good fun. Whilst her screaming and silliness would probably grate if I'd seen the full game and not just the episodes, I still find her to be amusing and get a cheap laugh or five out of her in each episode. I wouldn't like to see her win because she really doesn't deserve it, but all Big Brother seasons have floaters who get to far, so I'm glad she's at least goofy and n0t just a total snooze. Andrew is probably my current favourite, though I think he's probably screwed this week. Early on, I really didn't care for him either way, but he seems like a nice enough guy, I enjoyed his friendship with AJ and his love/hate relationship with Talla, and ultimately I think he has played pretty smart considering he was one of the few players who didn't really have a showmance or solid partner to rely on (or at least one who could actually do anything!) I don't think he'll win, and I do have to question the actions of someone who for weeks has wanted to go to F3 with a couple, but I think if he does pull a win out of the bag he'd deserve it.

Emmett and Jillian are the most obvious power couple in any Big Brother I can think of, and it really baffles me how the rest of the house allowed them to get to the point unscathed. Jillian has never been nominated, and neither has Emmett since the very first night. Early on, I thought Emmett seemed nice, albeit a bland personality, and whilst as time as gone on I've liked him less and less, I think he's played an excellent social game. Everybody in the house wanted to play with Emmett, pretty much everyone thought they were playing with Emmett when they got evicted, and yet Emmett remains relatively liked while Jillian has taken most of the heat. He's used her excellently in the sense that she's got all the blood on her hands and she's still pushing for the two of them to make it to the end, where he'll likely annihilate her. I'd actually quite like to see Jillian win because I appreciate the fact that she made a lot of the moves that got them where they are now, but I think she just pissed off to many people and now runs the risk of alienating them. That being said, I really thought that the hate aimed at her for lying to Topaz was misguided. I liked Topaz a lot, but she was so freaking dumb to step down from that challenge at that point. Jillian didn't need to lie, or at least lie so effusively, but the line was clearly drawn in the sand that week and to believe that Jillian would waste a crucial HoH week on evicting people who were not gunning for her was just stupid.

At this point, I think Emmett will win - I've been thinking Emmett will win for a very long time and he'd deserve it too. On a personal level, I think he's probably my least favourite at this point and I'd love it if Jillian cut him loose at the end, but ultimately I think she's just to deeply in Emmett's pocket. The only way around a Jemmett final two at this point would be if Gary wins next weeks Veto, but I'm not sure if that will happen. I'd like an Andrew/Jillian final two with Andrew winning, but at this point, I'm expecting an Emmett beatdown of Jill!

The move that changed the entire season was Alec overestimating how close he was with Andrew and opted to vote out AJ instead of Andrew.
Another reason why Andrew ditched Alec and alligned with Jemmett imo was first Andrew started to dislike Alec after Alec threw the HOH to him during the first double eviction. Since then Andrew had started to resent Alec. Andrew was always moaning at how Alec stopped him from playing for 10k during the HOH which followed the double eviction.

Also Andrew began to be fixated with Jillian for some reason and through Jillian he began to form an alliance with Emmett during his HOH reign which he targeted Gary.
Plus Emmett was close to Gary also and both Gary and Topaz where on a "I hate Alec" campaign after the instant eviction vote where Alec turned on them. Emmett probably from then on started to distrust Alec, especially with Gary in his ear before he was first evicted, about how much of a threat Alec was.

If Alec and Peter stuck by Topaz and voted Andrew out during double eviction their season would have turned out waaay better. They'd be in the spot than Jemmett are right now. Peter not using the veto on Topaz again proved how they placed their trust in someone they shouldn't and should have just stuck with Topaz.

Topaz imo was astute in her gameplay while she was in the house. She just got shafted by a shady alliance and the worst twist of the season.

Also lets not forget when Alec and Peter were put on the block together, it was after Topaz made a deal with Jillian during endurance so that messed up the shield as Topaz was meant to be the target that week, and something Jillian wanted also [to get Topaz out].
Plus i think people are forgetting the final nail in the coffin for Alec was how he threatened Jillian before nominations and that also made Peter get nominated alongside him. The shield have only themselves to blame. They made some of THE dumbest moves this season. such idiots

you're obviously allowed to have your own opinion and viewpoint which i can respect but i completely disagree.

the andrew thing is hindsight judgement based on knowledge that the viewers have in which the housemates don't, after things played out the way they did.

what that means is the viewers were privy to all the conversations between andrew/jillian/emmett and were clued in to what was going on behind the scenes.

betrayals are betrayals for a reason, you rarely see them coming.

unless alec/peter had powers to read minds or predict the future i don't see how in that moment they could've known that emmett and andrew were going to betray them together.

when alec had built up a solid relationship with andrew and emmett over the season and had future plans set together.

also take into the account the twist that occurred in which there was no way to factor that exact twist into different scenarios that people would hear topaz going over her entire strategy out loud for anyone to hear which in turn would badly reflect on alec and his relationship with emmett/andrew as well.

there was no time to discuss in these moments, things were in chaos where topaz's game might have been over based on what the house just got done hearing her say, up to that point there were end game plans with emmett/andrew and there wasn't any chance to know they were going to betray him.

the thing i don't like in which fans do (in general) is they sit back after things have played out and then judge based on how things played out and with specific knowledge they have that the housemates don't have.

emmett managed to put himself in a stronger position and he betrayed alec based on a few different things such as the topaz talking out loud thing, and then topaz revealing they were pretending to be mad at each other, etc.

things fall a certain way, alot of the game is based on luck.

if the twist had happened to jillian where she talked loud, if topaz won that hoh instead of jillian, etc as an example how things might go in a completely different direction than they did.

winning 10k right after throwing that comp to andrew and andrew ending up not getting anything for his hoh, there was no way in predicting this type of thing, it was all a series of non connected events.

he felt like he had built up enough of a relationship with andrew where some of this stuff wouldn't be as big of a deal as it was which we know from watching everything that it was a misreading by alec, but when someone is lying yo your face and saying everything behind your back it's not always the easiest thing to figure it all out in a short time.

(he went from being in a solid, strong position with good relationship to doomed at an extremely fast course of events)

so there wasn't alot of time to process and figure things out and adapt and adjust as things were already set in motion.

the twist happening to them again is another instance of bad luck which badly hurt alot of people's games and there's no way of anticipating such things.

i think they were great, played a good game and were alot of fun to watch.
just because things didn't work out for the various reasons doesn't make them idiots or bad at the game.
(which is largely based on luck)

Just watched this weeks three episodes. Still think Emmett and Jillian are the best players, but I'm starting to think Emmett is actually the better player out of that pairing. You really got to see just how much he thinks things through this week and the way everyone trusts and likes him is actually a thing of beauty.

Jillian is good too. And obviously really strong in challenges. I loved that clip of her standing up to Pete. But her wishy-washiness over the Talla/Andrew vote showed that she doesn't quite have her game head screwed on as much as Emmett.

i pretty much agree with everything you said.

Even Peter and Alec said in Interviews they always based their decisions on what they knew and what they thought was best in THAT moment. Of course now they know they were wrong and blame only themselves for failing. And like you said a lot of the game is pure luck ... things don´t work out sometimes like you planned.

Best example is last years Frank. He and Ian had the most knowledge of the game but the stupid coach twist ruined everything for Frank. He didn´t do anything wrong in the beginning but was Dans, Brits and Janelles target nr. 1 because he looked like a tank. Ian got saved by the twist coz Boogie was fighting for him, without that Ian would have been gone in week 1 because everyone was annoyed with his behavior.

I liked the shield and without these stupid twists they might have made it to the end with Emmett.


Jilian has no game plan at all all she does is winning comps and getting blood on her hands and she still thinks she is sooo good. Well she never watched a BB season till the end so no wonder she has no clue about anything.

Even Dan ranked her and Andrew as the worst players of the 5 lol.

Her standing up to Pete was just pathetic. She started the whole thing by telling him she knew he wouldn´t vote for her ... he only confirmed it and added that probably Alec and Topaz won´t vote for her either. He just told her the facts, very calm and reasonable. And she started yelling at him like an insane person gloating about winning 3 HOHs (who cares Jillian). What exactly makes her the victim in this conversation is beyond me.

Oh and i almost forgot

I think Emmetts game was almost flawless and he is the only one who really deserves to win in the end! And i always liked him until he stabbed his Quattro boys in the bag. But i root hard for him now so we can have at least a worthy winner after this messed up first season.

The best player among a whole load of terrible players, well I guess that sums up most of this style of Big Brother. But really if he hadn't won so many competitions with Jillian I wonder if he would have lasted. Suzette put him up but it was too early for most of them to realise what a threat he was. The twists haven't really damaged him at all. The two who were on the surface more powerful at different times (Tom and then Alec) where so incredibly unlikeable and incompetant that the boring Emmitt ended up being the necessary hero in the fake 'golden couple'. I still hope there is a twist to stab him in the back because this season has been so damn predictable.

Like I say, this is just a view from a casual TV only viewer. I liked that she had a go at him, she was/is a better player than Pete.

You can't really view it as a proper version of Big Brother though, can you? The amounts of twists is just ridiculous, especially the massive impact of them, and is why I decided to not watch the feeds and just watch it casually because it was hard to take it seriously.

she is just better in comps but that doesn´t make her a good player. She was always protected by Emmett and his alliance with Quattro and then the east coast. Nobody wanted to put her up because nobody wanted to upset Emmett. Without him she would have been long gone. He always told her who to put up and she always did what he told her to do.

She wasn´t even able to keep one jury member on her side, everyone hates her except Andrew who is obviously in love with her.

The worst thing about her is that she always starts talking like a little girl when she is with Emmett or in the DR. She often said something like "i can´t do that i am JUST a girl" ... omg that always makes me wanna puke or punch her

I am so embarrassed for her. That she has no personality at all makes it even harder to like her.

exactly! i'm glad there are others out there that think this as well (about the luck thing especially).

i believe the main objective of the game in advancing and ultimately winning is to try and position yourself or make it so the force of luck/chance driving things doesn't effect you in such a way as to completely doom you.
or simply in general why the game doesn't purely reward gameplay or good players can end up going out early on.

that's why someone like talla who isn't exactly the best pure gamer in terms of strategy and things like this can advance further than people like alec/liza who are thinkers and can put together strategy and stuff.

the entire game formed and was birthed through luck/chance which is the constant driving force (and benefits people in different ways or doesn't or dooms them) through suzette being the one to randomly pick up the phone.

this set in motion a course of events based on this act of luck/chance, it put emmett/tom on the block which caused them to bond and work together being the early targets and they figured they would keep being targets being the bigger athletic guys, them working together got alec to approach them to work together in forming a brigade like quatro, everyone wanting tom out instead of emmett caused liza to gravitate toward him, kat ends up being doomed.. all because of the driving force of fate/luck/chance.

if someone else picks up the phone the game unfolds in a different way, perhaps slightly or extreme, or somewhere in between.

and then twists happening to certain people (such as the topaz twist which effects a number of people in different ways)

i wish there was a way to play it around 3 times or so (like wipe the housemates minds afterwards and have them play again 2 more times aha) and change it slightly to really get an idea of things.

as one time through with the driving force of luck/chance it's hard to get a true idea of things ultimately.

which is why i don't like when people sit back after the fact and things have played out a certain way (based on different factors under the gravitational pull of luck and chance) and say that a person sucks or is horrible at the game or is stupid or an idiot or whatever.

i much, much more prefer to look at it within the moments with an understanding within the context of all of the above.

After last year it was another disappointing season to watch (apart from the great cast) because things played out like i didn´t want them to. Almost everything went wrong as soon as jury started and imo the wrong ppl were in the second F5. I don´t even care who wins now as long as it´s not Jillian.

lol @ anyone thinking the Shield played well/Peter played better than Jillian/any variation of that.

lol even more @ Frank and Ian being the two with the most knowledge of the game in BB14, they sure as hell didn't show it.

Clearly more than you did if you think the Coaches twist screwed Frank. Your revisionist history of BB14 is just straight up wrong.
