Mirror Free CD 'Mystery Tracks'?
Anybody happen to know who the unlisted additional tracks on this weekend's Daily and Sunday Mirror 'The Best of Artists and Groups' are by? This is the second time (to my knowledge) this has happened with these Mirror CD giveaways.
'The Best of Artists and Groups' title is clearly a contradiction in terms unless you consider Billy Ocean, The Three Degrees and Space to be automatic and definitive inclusions. That said, these freebie CDs are generally worth having. Also, it is somewhat ironic you now get double CD orginal recordings compilations given away in newspapers costing less than £1. Ten years ago, you would have been more likely to have got the newspaper free with the album! As for the 'phantom' tracks...they appear after track ten on both albums. They sound like brand new stuff. The best ones are acoustic-based tracks featuring a female singer on a couple and male vocalist on the others. To be honest, these songs are considerably better than the included tired old hits and the CDs are worth getting for these alone. Anybody know more about this? |

The Daily Star do this sometimes, and I think the bands don't actually exist. They sound like the same vocalist on every track and the style of composition sounds similar. I reckon the band names are just made up to suit the genre of the rest of the album.

I believe it's so they can put out a full cd without paying the copyright fees. If they include the others as "bonus tracks" they avoid it........or something.
